Two hours in on the perimeter tape and the ailerons are done. The ailerons are the worst part to me so got them out of the way first thing. I will let dry then trim and clean them up.
Next up, the tail feathers.

Here ya go, this is the perimeter tape. It was bought as 2" but I will shrink it to near 1-1/2" before application.

Yep, and going very nicely at that. Everything is smooth and sleek. Rudder and elevators are done and currently working on (see pic) stabilizers. I will probably call it a day after the stabs, the back is starting to twitch a bit.

Took a break from taking a break and finished up the bottom wing halves. The top wing and fin/turtle deck are all that remains needing tape before ironing it all out.

Robert

Hey thanks for the picture of the pinking tape you used. I wanted to see a close up of the tape on the model actually. Did you build a jig and do the rib stitching under the tape?

It's getting real close! But unfortunately I am booked for baby sitting the next couple weeks so trips to the property is limited to half days. So! This morning I got up early and went to the property and picked up all the painting gear. I have painted on the side porch many times and looks like that is where this one will get painted. I will have to rescreen first, but, that's no big deal.

Thought I'd start with the hardest of the last few pieces of pinking, the fin/turtle. What a real PTA, but, it is done!!

Frequent Flyer, you wanna make something that every scale or attempting to build scale modeler would absolutely love to have?

Pinking shears, we need a pair about half the full scale size.

The pinking tapes are done. Tomorrow I will start the ironing of the edges, then the paint process starts.

Or, for most of us, 1/4 will do. Lol.

Nothing to show but something to tell, I have been ironing all day. And will probably be at it all day again tomorrow. I do not want any of the pinked edges popping up this time around!!!

You betcha!!!
I spoke with Stits this morning and they gave me some real good advice. After the final coat of Poly brush is sprayed, using parchment paper as a protective barrier between the iron and the poly brush, iron it again.
So, it should have that hot rod show room finish!!!
