Sounds like you have all your bases covered Robert, relax and enjoy the visual stimulation that will come spraying, seeing all the fruits of your labor presenting themselves in a mirror like sheen...

I am trying my friend. This time I am tak'ing each part just prior to shooting. And to ensure I have no respiratory issues, such as last time and had to go home, I am only going in for ten minutes at a time, and ten minutes out as well as wiping all the moisture out of the mask. So far so good on all accounts, breathing well and spot free.

Having a good white first base coat, I did not focus on areas that did not need a second for the color coats. Those areas such as the L/E and T/E of the wings and tail feathers, and most of the fuse are getting a different color. So, the wings top and bottoms, the tail feathers, the struts, and where two stripes run up the cowl and fuse, all have received a good second coat. It has a very nice sheen and is virtually spec free. It just might have that hot rod showroom finish after all. I don't know how well it will show up in pics but here are a few to take a gander at.

Very exciting Robert.
Will there be a clear coat with this paint or is it shoot and forget ?
Also how long before you can mask for the next color ?
If clear coating will you clear coat over the eagle?
I had a bike frame painted by a body shop. I got the factory decals and they clear coated over them and they are down for the count and wear like iron.
My decals where tiny compared to your graphics though ?
You must be pretty pumped, I know I would be

Kevin, yes, there is going to be clear coats. The plan is to clear over the eagle, the logos, and the other small vinyl add on's. This stuff requires a minimum of 12 hours before masking according to Stits.

More than likely I will not be spraying today. These mask I bought apparently are cut from normal vinyl. As a safety precaution I used a small strip in an inconspicuous place and it does not peel off without trying to lift the paint, just like a vinyl decal. So I have got to go buy a cutting mat and cut everything myself out of masking film.

"it does not peel off without trying to lift the paint, "
I have found that a small amount of heat from a hair dryer, and pulling back along itself (rather that up, perpendicular to the surface) helps enormously.

Thanks Les, but I am not willing to risk it. I thought I had ordered pre-cut masking but this stuff is regular vinyl. I have returned from shopping where I picked up a new cutting mat 24"x36", some more bottles for the airbrush, a glass jar, and a charcoal pencil. I will be taking a break and then get started cutting the mask and affixing it in placing. Will post pics as I go along.

Ok, here we go. First pic is cutting mat and supplies, Second is mask paper applied to mat. Third is vinyl applied over mask. Fourth is everything cut out. Fifth is some painters tape to hold the lines in place for transfer. Sixth is mask placed over wing. It took about an hour and a half to cut and place and would be very well worth the time and effort if, "the damn **** would stick!!
Apparently this masking film/paper is not quite sticky enough to hold with the flex of the fabric. So! I am waiting for a call from the guy whom cut the mask to see if he has any advice for the removal of his templates. I am think that being this paint product, even though dry enough to tape after 12 hours, continues to gas off for a few weeks and maybe it will aid in the release of the vinyl. I know vinyl don't stick, long term, when applied after fresh paint because of some pin striping work on other models that started falling off after a couple weeks.

Well Les, you nailed it. I just talked with the vinyl guy and he said, it is regular vinyl but the use of light heat would cause the adhesive to release. So, first thing in the morning I will begin to mask and paint (again)..

Sounds like a stuff I have used called "Friskit", and yes it is a very low tack material. I have taped down perimeter points to keep things in place.
