Hoosier Dawn Patrol
It's hard to believe that the HDP is just 1 week away. August 16, 17, 18 at the AMA headquaters in Muncie, Indiana. This year we are celebrating National Model Aviation Day on Saturday, the 17th. Come join the celebration and see some of the best WW1 models in the country.

And with apologies, I too will be MIA for most of HDP '13. I'm on a work project working through most (if not all) of August, and the best I'm hoping for is to be able to sneak over sometime Sunday to maybe say hi and bye to a few folks.
Really bummed out that I'll be missing one of the best Fly-Ins of the season!!

Steve, you know that I'll be there! (and don't believe anything that Paul might say about me - he's just trying to shift the blame around)
I think I will bring my N-11. The Eindecker is grounded until the landing gear is replaced or repaired - it seems that when the gear was welded up all the temper was removed from the wire (if it had any at all. Larry has fired that guy and hopefully will find another soon.
I have been working on my new DR1 but I don't think it will be ready for the HDP.
Rhonda and I will be rolling in sometime Wednesday evening if the good Lord is willing and the creeks don't rise.

Here are some pictures I took on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. After that I got real busy flying. It was great to be able to put seven nice flights on the Gotha bomber and I put at least that many on my Fokker D7. More pilots showed up later and hopefully others will post more pictures. The quality of the models continues to get better every year.

My hat is off to you! Many thanks for providing the venue - I know dealing with AMA Headquarters can be a hassle at times.
The weather conditions were very conducive to model flying and we all took full advantage of it. I flew more this year than at any other HDP - I burned over 3 gallons of gas in the big "Larry Folk" Eindecker and my N-11.
Even though I took both of my airplanes home broken I went home with a smile. The Eindecker is a relatively easy repair. The Nieuport will take a lot more effort, but it too can be repaired.
I am too tired to find the pictures, let alone getting them posted to the site......maybe later this weekend.
Cheers,
Art
