Hey Art! Sup Bud, Been quiet here for some time, motivation low? It gets that way from time to time. Maybe get some good weather and get some flying in and the old grove will get perked up. Spent the day at the field today for the first time in a couple of months, had to borrow some stick time from a friend as all my airplanes are in storage in Nashville while we wait for the house sale to finalize. Hope you get your grove back.

Hey Billy & Doc
Motivation might be a bit low ......but just trying to get into the spring cleaning - cleaning up the yard, getting the mower running - helping my daughter with her new house and such. PLUS, working a bit on a third scale Fokker DVII........trying to get it ready for flight. Most of my batteries need replacing .... oh yeah - don't forget about the old 9 to 5 routine, it still continues. Need to repair the tail skid on my N-11 and uh, stuff - you know, just stuff. (also getting a clipped wing ,quarter scale cub ready for flight, too)
So many planes and soooo little time!
See you at the field.

This flying season has finally come to a close and my attention has now turned toward the shop ....... my heat source for the shop quit working, so that gets fixed first.
Hopefully, the N-11 project continues soon. I do have a half scale Balsa USA Lewis gun that I just finished ......... slowly but surely I will get back into it.
Thanks for asking.

Very cool, How many of you out there keep dreaming of building a fullscale gun to be able to look at it? hahahah
If I was a machinist I would probably have to make one out of metal... Sure would be cool..
Oh and ALWAYS, nice work ART !

Hey Art, good to hear from you. I need to build a wall and hang some lights and my shop will be very close. Some shelving on the wall and finish putting some stuff away and there we go. What kind of heater do you have or did you have. I'm going to have to address that in the new climate I think. I'm planning on going down to the SDP the first of Dec, what say you?

Thanks Lance. Don't want one of my own, but I did see several at the Dayton Rendezvous.
Can't make the trip to Georgia, Doc - it's just the wrong time of the year for me.
I had an externally vented gas furnace mounted to the wall - the heat exchanger is cracked in 2 or 3 places and the safeties built into it won't let the furnace ignite. It is not repairable and thanks to the EPA is it no longer allowed in this climatic zone. So I am going to a blue flame ventless heater capable of heating up to 700 square feet .... I forget what the btu rating is.

Hey Doc .... the heater that I am going to have installed I found at Ace Hardware. I haven't picked it up yet so I don't know who the manufacturer is. It is a convection type of heater. I had no luck at all going on line and trying to research it, mainly because I don't know beans about gas heaters/furnaces and I didn't understand anything that I read. Ace comes through for me again!

Art, thanks guy, the Ace site (or me) isn't much help but there are several of the Pro Com heaters on Amazon and though I cant find that very Model number there are a couple in that BTU rating I been looking at. The lumber was delivered yesterday for the walls I need to build now it's up to the old wheezer to "get er done".

Thanks Art, I'll look into it and get something before winter. I am still working on the BUSA Dr-1, about 75% complete to covering. I also have a BUSA Fokker D-VII kit and a BUSA Sopwith Pup kit to build this winter. Not sure which one I'll start, got to stay busy you know.

Turtle Report:
......work continues on the landing gear. Bottom of the strut needs to be trimmed to its final shape/length........then epoxy it all together.
Notice the X wire brackets have been soldered to the lower end of the front down leg. I think the upper end will be attached to the landing gear block.
The struts have masking tape on them to try to keep them from getting all scratched up. (hey, isn't this where I was last year at about this time?)

The two front struts have been epoxied onto the wire gear. It takes about 6 hours for this Hysol mix to become firm enough to handle. 24 hrs for 90% strength and 3 days for 100% strength. I will have to wait until morning to have a go at the rear struts.
I am doing all the struts one at a time so as to have ample time to position and clean up the mess.
