Thanks Art, I see how it works. I had started drawing up a 1/4 nieuport 17 and was trying to figure out how to do a scale aileron setup with torque tubes but could not figure out how I wanted to do the hinges. Your solution looks good. I assume the brass tube over the carbon tube is there to keep the carbon tube from wearing down?

Saw the video of Billy's camel by the way. Looks like it flew nicely. Half scale is the new third scale it seems.

Yes, your assumption is correct.

Yep. half scale is the new third scale, or so it seems. I might have a different perspective after storing and hauling it around a season or two - it's pretty dang big!

.......so does that mean ...full scale is the new 1/2 scale? LOL!

Congrats Art for getting on the top 10 for two weeks in a row!
Keep up the good work!
Cheers

Thanks Paul.......I guess I'll forever be behind that curve

Have you considered just how big that plane is that you are building? Do you have hangar space reserved at the local airport yet?

When modelers start building models that are larger than the original, that's the day to call it quits.

Thanks Steve, but I have to disagree with you on this one ...... I am so looking forward to covering it up that I can't stand it ........ Things are taking forever to get to that point - covering time is my favorite part because that means its almost ready to fly!

Remember this is going to be transported in my Dodge Caravan, so yes the wing is a two piece affair. Projected span is + or - 12" 4".

Turtle Report:

Pilot cut out fit to the wing. Material is 3/16" aircraft plywood. Clamped to the rear spar and showing the aileron crank mockup.

Art i have an idea for ya. Turn the heat down in you building. That way you will move a little faster trying to stay warm. Have you any news on you landing gear?

No news on the landing gear.......or anything else plane related. No news is good news, that's what I always say - in this case not such a good thing. Maybe this weekend.

You're right about that.........I work at model building in spurts.......for me it is creative more than it is nuts and bolts. I envy the guys who can go to the shop and spend several hours at a time and be productive all that while. Occasionally I can do that, but normally after an hour or two I get a little sloppy and that's when I back off.......

I am waiting for my inspiration to return..........in the meantime I remain in my shell.

Turtle Report:

I have been playing around with the hinging on the ailerons. Hardwood (Maple) bearing blocks epoxied in.........

strap hinges bent to shape........and fitted to the rear spars..........then attached with a 4-40 bold and nut.......not the best job I have done, but I think it is secure and functional.
