Dawn Patrol Rendezvous 2014

Photo flood commences....
I didn't take nearly as many photos a I typically do, and there were a number of great looking RC craft that I missed. Just so much to do and see.
This 1/3 Nieuport 17 got my vote for best Entente.
Other than needing a pilot figure. A nice looking Nieuport 28.
My choice for best Central Powers. Doug Miller's DVa.
Another very nice N28.
What goes up.....
.....must come down. Paul Westrich's awesome 1/2 scale Fokker DVI in it's new markings.
Paul's work earned him the Pilot's Choice for Best Central Powers aircraft. Well deserved.
Greg Emerick's 1/3 Pup represents the full scale (real, not a replica) Pup we saw in England in 2007 at the Shuttleworth Collection.
I believe this is a 1/4 sale Pup.
To go along with the video clip of Mike Wartman's Pup. Here's are the participants and spotters. Cindy Kern, Rhonda Shelton, Mike Wartman, museum Video Guy, Art Shelton, Greg Emerick.
The Smith's return to the pits from a successful flight.
Joe Hanson's 1/3 Bristol F2b.
One of my favorites! Bristol F2b. or Brisfit.

Great photos as always, Mike!!
Here's another video that the Museum just posted - it features our chaps around the 1:50 mark:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSRc3VWiO0M I'm going through my (few) photos now, plus a batch I received from the gang from Oklahoma (I believe). I'll get to posting over the next few days.
Also, we should have more postings going on here after Mid-Atlantic, where a whole bunch of the Rendezvousers went following Dayton (I'll be shuffling off to Buffalo instead, on a family outing - gotta keep the missus happy!!).
'til later,
Lee McD

And I just received a note from David Thomas, Specials Events Coordinator for the Museum, titled:
R/C Pilot - POW
"Lee/Doug,
Our A/V guy found an R/C pilot "POW" in the grass! Someone lost their pilot
out of their R/C plane. Please pass this to the pilots so that this little
guy can be "re-patriated"!
Thanks
David...... "
Soooooo . . . .
For some reason I immediately jump to the conclusion that it must be one of you Sopwith fliers who were dropping all sorts of things (wheels, mostly) on Wright field this weekend, but in any event, if you are missing a pilot out of your plane (even if NOT a Sopwith), let me know and we'll get you in touch with David so that you and your AWOL pilot can be reunited!!

Hey Doc you are correct! This is a AH British pilot we are converting for the new D7 "Swabiens"
We dyed the coat black and put new fur around the sleeves and color (something different)
We still need his boots and helmet to be painted ...
Lee can you tell me how to get my "scared ****less ...I don't want to go back" pilot back.
Thanks,
HPA

Good afternoon, Paul
I'll get a note off to David Thomas at the Museum and start the repatriation process for your fearless aviator!
Looking forward to hearing all about Virginia Beach (I was in Buffalo visiting with family instead) and seeing some pictures.
Now that I'm all but done traveling, I'll be posting more pictures from the Rendezvous this week - got a DVD coming from Larry Masters as well as a flash drive handed to me at Dayton by one of the guys from Oklahoma (I believe - I was a bit fuzzy on details by Sunday there!!).
Best regards,
Lee McD

While at the Dayton Dawn Patrol, I was handed a Flash Drive with a whole bunch of event photos, a few dozen or so I've uploaded to Photobucket at:
http://s4.photobucket.com/user/Winte...dezvous?sort=9
And true to form I apparently tried to rely on mental notes as to who gave me the photos, with predictable results.
So could whoever recognizes their handiwork here, could you please let me know? I'm submitting my report on the event to the AMA and am including photos, and want to give credit where credit is due.
I also received a large batch of photos from Larry Masters via DVD (MANY thanks, Larry), and I'll be posting some of those photos as well. But first off, here's the a few of the photos for which I'm trying to find the owner:
Photo flood will commence soon - first want to get the report off to AMA.
MANY thanks,
Lee McDuffee

Thanks for posting the photo link, Lee. The missus and I have been talking up the event to friends and family and now we can show them the variety of displays that were there. (I didn't take many pictures myself because I was too busy fussing with my models.)
This was definitely the best one so far. I'm glad the weather was good, especially for those guys that came from long distances.

Has a couple links to video and additional photos as well.
I'll have some updates/corrections I'll post in their comment section, but overall, nice to be noticed!
