Default Cub On Floats

I purchased a balsa/plywood Cub on floats at the Expo swap this weekend. She's built for nitro and has a 60 inch span. Does anyone know how I could tell who the kit manufacture was? I need a windshield and a engine cowl at minimum. Also need an engine or convert to electric but thats rather easy.

Thanks in advance!

Joe

Post some pictures! Need several angles on the airplane and maybe a picture inside the fuselage to see how it is build. Someone should be able to identify it from there. Many, many CUB kits and designs over the years.

More than likely a 40 size cub. Take measurements of the fuselage too and post that with the pictures.
Even if you can't ID the kit the cowl from a current kit or arf should fit along with the window/windshield kit. If you want to make your own windshield all you need is a piece of clear plastic used on display boxes for toys and electronics. Not the flimsy stuff but a bit heavier. Scissors, a heat gun and some time and it can be made.

Well, it's not a Great Planes, Goldberg or SIG kit built CUB as the construction is a bit different than any of these planes. Maybe one of the many CUB ARFs available?

Hard to tell from the pics but it looks like an arf versus a kit.
Take a pic of the tail as I can see some decals there and take a pic of the wing showing the number.

We'll have to play the "guess that dusty car" game too !

The top of the cabin and bulk head looks like the Aeromax Arf Cub that I have, I think mine has 61" wings. I made my own windshield for it from a two liter Dr Pepper bottle.

Here's some pics of mine, landing gear is obviously different, but I think it's the same plane.

Is it a one piece or two piece wing ?
Quick look at the number and I would say Hangar 9 but the wing and fuse construction don't seem to match

Took a close look at the firewall pic and 3" wide looks to be more like a 25 size Cub. A 40 size would be more like 5" wide. Your fuselage length would confirm it.
I would contact Horizon Hobbies and ask for the inside dimensions of their 25 size cub cowl.

Does Aeromax offer parts for these? I can't seem to find them on the web?

The fuselage is ~ 34 inches long from the firewall to the rudder trailing edge. She weighs ~ 4 lbs w/o an engine. It looks like it matches up with the Eflight 25 Cub except for the IC vs. electric powerplant. Did Horizon offer these in a IC version in the past?

Tx,

Joe

I don't think Hangar 9 ever made a 25size for glow.
I think the Eflite would be your best bet for a replacement cowl and windshield. As mentioned before, I would calll Horizon and ask them for the inside dimensions of the cowl.
