Hey Everyone!
This is Scott Lee, Event Coordinator and Contest Director for The Blue Max Scale Challenge & Fly In down in Central Florida. I've been reading through your posts. I hope you guys have another great event up there. We always mention your event at our Blue Max Event. Although I have never attended The Ohio Dawn Patrol, we consider it to be one of the "blueprint" World War 1 events that is spoken of very highly. Events such as The Ohio Dawn Patrol, The Blue Max, Rhinebeck Jamboree and other similar WW1 events are important to our hobby. It is events like these that may soon be our only link to the aeroplanes and pilots that flew them. I hope to attend and fly with you guys up there sometime. Hope to see some of you at the 2015 Blue Max January 23-25, 2015.Good luck, good weather and good flying!!!!
All the best to you guys!

Evening, all
Helen and I are scrambling now getting everything rounded up - amazing how much schtuff it takes to travel to these events!!!. We'll be heading out of Wisconsin Thursday morning, and hope to arrive late afternoon.
Looking forward to seeing the gang again, and getting in a bunch of flying!!
Best regards,
Lee McD

Had a great time there today, looks like you had a good turn out. Still miss my friend Dell, I know he was there in spirit.
With all the planes I saw today along with some ground looping and corn hungry planes the most heart breaking moment was when we all most lost Paul. He had beached himself I mean slipped on the runway when the full size Pipper Cub League was taking off. Paul I'm so glad your ok you gave us all a scare.

A second to Greg's comment. You guys are awesome. Record pilot turn out (45 I think?). The skies, while not conducive for great photography, were great for flying.
A few of the keepers I managed to get.
Event CD Lee McDuffe's 1/4 scale Pup.
Pair of BUSA 1/3 scale Albatros
More later

Few more.....
Love those Albis!
Sam lost the right elevator and then the rudder on his N28. Kept it level a slow into the corn. Nice save!
Art Shelton's 1/3 Dr1
Art Shelton and Greg Emerick doing a bit of "Mission Oriented" flying.

Helen and I made it back to Wisconsin Sunday night with no problems (other than a severe case of sleep deprivation). Got 400+ pics and videos to wade through now - will be posting those hopefully starting tonight.
Had a GREAT time - and are there ever gonna be stories to tell coming out of this one!!!
Very best regards,
Lee McDuffee

Hey guys I should have asked you when I was there last year.. What is the furthest west Dawn Patrol you usually go to? It sure would be easier if there was one half way there !

There was one in Council Bluffs,IA, The Western Front Dawn Patrol. I don't think they've had one since 2010 though. Dean Dingman was the organizer. [email protected] or [email protected] are the Email addresses I have for Dean, but they may not be current.
And near Eureka Springs, Arkansas there is http://www.dawnpatrolsquadron.com/ It's in June. While not strictly WW1 it's an wonderful event.
