building a cowl for the 87 span BATES mkv tempest,
I have searched many threads and i may be the first to attempt this insanity. the cowl
has two pieces , a top half and a lower half . will get some pictures if , the dang batteries in my camera dont
keep dying. ive got the top half almost done , the bottom half will be wack , because there are no stringer slots in the formers.
, i thought the sepp /uk temp cowl would fit , but its too pricey and its probly not the right size. along with my unemployment
depression , i may take up some added medisional beverage drinking durring this quest.
have a goody

hi chad , this bates tempest v is a different animal , its a combination of an old plan and a new cad file
which spells mistakes everywhere, ive made progress, but its a ball buster. The sepp cowl is 100.00 british
plus shipping , way too pricey , but , yea , send the dimensions. i know this one is 7.250 wide , dont know
the height yet. j bates should have redone the plans , to match the cad , but i guess it was too much of an
undertaking , too bad. FOR ME. i'm going to go with a New 3w70i , and heavy shindin sport leg retracts.
id have to cut up the ribs too much for scale legs.
Thanks chad

Have not forgotten you WhiteRook! I will attempt to dig out the Uiberlacher cowl this weekend and get you some dimensions, although it appears your solution is coming along nicely at any rate.

Not really sure at this point WhiteRook. I was actually just looking for a set of the Uiberlacher plans to use as a basis for a Tempest II as I prefer the look of the radial powered version. A gentleman responded to my request for plans and happend to have the cowl and some other accessories available for a good price so I purchased the whole package. I could probably be persueded to part with the cowling since my intentions are for the Tempest II if I ever get around to building it at all.
The cowl is 12 1/4 inches in overall length, spinner diameter is 5 1/2 inches, and the mounting face is approximately 7 1/2 inches wide at its widest point. Let me know if that tells you what you need to know.
