Nice restoration. Not many in modern flyers can appreciate a Nosen kit. I have a Champ kit stashed and in midst of building the Citabria. Glad to hear you are adding some scale features. The kit was not built around opening door features but can be modified. I just added opening luggage compartment, opening left window and cut out the door opening. In process of reinforcing fuse structure now that I added door and window features. Still need to build the door itself.
It appears your center section has been glued in place? That would definitely add strength to the cabin area.
keep the pics coming

What about scale landing gear and tail wheel???? When I compared mine to the 3 views I noticed the nose on the model was slightly extended to make up for tail weight. Don't be surprised if you have to add nose weight as the engine you have chosen is pretty light. Mine had a Quadra 42 in the nose.

Several years ago mine when in doing aerobatics (yes the stock 65 hp Aeronca like the J3 could be coaxed to do certain aerobatic manouvers that were never part of its flight envelope). I looked for the landing gear I must have gave them to someone else. I made mine from the 3 views as I did the tailwheel. No plans unfortunatly.

Can you mold a bubble windshield for it somehow? That sets them apart from the rest. I used to fly my full scale with the door off all the time. It was too much fun!. Propworm that's a nice one your flying!

Very interested to see your restoration.
i've just bought a part built champ from the 'precedent' kit. 105" wingspan. Tempted to try and put in the door as shown.
