Ohio Dawn Patrol 2017
Good evening, all - kicking off a thread on one of our favorite events - the Ohio Dawn Patrol down in Harrison, Ohio.
Normally Event Director Paul Westrich (aka HorsePower Aviation) has a thread started late in June. I just got off the phone with him this evening, and he asked me to fire something up, and he'll update the thread with info and such starting tomorrow (Wed 07/12).
I'm thrashing away on some sorely needed work on last seasons' 1/4 BUSA Sopwith Pup (landing gear, cabanes, cowling, patches . . . you know . . . schtuff!). Should be ready in time for our trip south. Helen and I will be heading down a week from Thursday (or 07/20) - I know a bunch of you will be arriving a lot sooner than that!!!
Now that Photobucket has become ransomware, I'll have to try and upload photos direct to the thread - hopefully I'll get a couple on here tonight (hate this "olde dog learning new tricks" stuff . . .).
Meanwhile, looking forward to seeing everyone there in about a week and a half!!
Best regards,
Lee McDuffee

For newbies heading to ODP 2017
The airfield is home to the Cincinnati Aeromodelers, and is just south of Harrison, Ohio at 8470 Lawrenceburg Road (and then a short drive over the hills and through the woods . . .). The field features two crossing grass runways, with a wooded central area behind the pit areas.
IF I can figure out how to get it to work, I'll post links to a few videos of prior Dawn Patrols that show the layout of the field and some of the surrounding countryside.
Best regards,
Lee McD

Back home from the 2017 ODP. Always a great time. Meeting up with old friends, making new ones. And the hospitality of the Cincinnati Aeromodelers is second to none. There weather wasn't the best (hot, humid, rainy, hot and humid) While I wasn't able to get the Taube ready (Wounded Wille is extremely disappointed), I did get a few good photos, but (as Lee mentioned earlier), the jerks at Photbucket have made it too $$$ to share photos in the way I prefer. Nice and big. Just started the culling and tweaking process (in my nice air conditioned home), Here are just two for now.
