Need help with airplane ideas
Hi all,
A friend of my and I would like to start a business making plans for airplanes.
At some point we would like to expand into a manufacturing company.
We want to design scale plans for planes that are not readily available.
For example we don’t want to do a P-51 or an Extra300 as many kits and plans are already available.
We are not going to limit ourselves to a particular genre of aircraft such at WWII military.
We are looking for ideas in military, general aviation, experimental or any other category.
This is where we need help from the RC community at large. We are looking for ideas of what aircraft to work on.
Please let us know what plane you would like to see that isn’t currently be done and what scale you would like to see it in.
Thanks for any help,
Norm

I would actually like to see some plans of airliners (B-747, 737, 757,767,777, Airbus A300, A320).
Out of those, I wouldr really like to get a hold of B-737 700 plans.

Russian WW2 aircraft would be very much appreciated. Mig's,Yaks,Laggs and such are just not done. I also would like to see scale planes especially WW1 & 2 planes in the 60 to 90 size. Not to big and not to small. And with this size it would be less expensive than the 1/4 and so on scale stuff.

Say, since you're asking, I'm having a devil of a time finding plans for a Boing F4B-4 biplane, in a 20- to 50-inch wingspan. I thought it would be a lot more popular, but apparently not...

Thanks all for the great ideas and keep them coming
I will use these as a baseline and get started on some drawings.
Please keep in mind this will take some time as I will need to complete the research first.

Seems like a good first step would be to start building, flying, and exhibiting a few of these odder aircraft types. I'd imagine that the way people like Don Smith or Dave Platt got to be who they are is that they built outstanding models for themselves, won a few competitions with them, and then other people saw them and started asking to have the plans.
Build and they will come!

I would like to see the Grummen Goose, or the smaller Widgon. These were great anphibean twins, and could be built with gear or without. The Goose used Radials and the Widgen used inverted Ranger engines in most of it's variants. As for size, well big is better but twin 40's would be a good starting point.
A couple of planes that have been overlooked are the Cessna 120/140 (140 had flaps) and the Luscombe, both of these subjects would make awsome 1/4 scale projects. I think the WWII planes have pretty much been done, at least on the Allied/German side. You might
Look into Italian and Japanese twins for something different. If I were starting a sevice such as yours I think I would explore the Golden age civil airplanes. Curtis, Fleet, Boeing, Ryan, to name a few. The period between the wars offers an awful lot of planes that have not been "over done".
Good Luck.
