Default Model Spitfire Crosses English Channel

Hi All,

Last Friday, 4th May, I was part of the team that flew a 1/4 scale Flying Legends Spitfire across the English Channel. Mike Booth was the pilot. This has been done before, but Mike was the first person to actual control the model from start up, in Calais, to shut down at Manston, Kent. It was one of those on/off sort of days - the weather wasn't very good to say the least. Mike & Stweart Clifford took the Spitfire across to Calais on the Eurostar train and assemble the model at Calais airport. His pilot back would be Chris Trow flying a Eurostar light aircraft. I arrived from Manston with my pilot Simon Moores in a Cessna 172. The pictures start to tell the story - I'll post more soon.

Here's the video taken from the camera that was fixed to Simon's hat. Try and spot, firstly the Eurostar and then the Spitfire - anyone who thinks its easy getting pictures in low cloud should have a good look. Also, have a look at how tight our landing was, too. We were very low, but couldn't mess around because we didn't know how much fuel the Spitfire had left. Mike had already done 2 orbits waiting for us. If you listen closely to Simon's comments you'll understand why.

Neil, this is certainly moving "RC photography" to a whole new level! Next thing we know you'll have a full-blown career as an aviation photographer! And we can say, we knew you when...
