I had a OS .28FSR in mine, but it was an old engine when I put it on and after about 200 flights the bearings had had it and were getting hot. It has an OS .25SF in it now. Here is a video of it. Yes it will go very fast with the .25. But I am Scale Dail for a reason.........

One thing the PT 19 was not was fast. The full scale's top speed was not quite as fast as a Nieuport 28's if that puts a perspective on it. They do make nice models in any size in my opinion and of course the history of the cadets who trained in them is inspiring. A fast overpowered model when not flown scale is very capable of whatever. Relaxing fun, fast or slow.

I have about 8-9 FP .40's so that is what I put in there. No need to buy more engines when I have all those hanging around. I know it's a lot of engine but I don't often use much to fly. Problem is if I ever go to sell it what's good for me is not good for the majority. I've had .50 size warbirds with .52 and .48 OS four strokes in them. They flew great for me and plenty of power/speed but for others there wasn't enough. For some there's never enough.

You are right about that! Most RCers have a great need for speed! When I made my G-Flite AT-6 conversion I used a .40FP cause that's what I had!

With a Sensenich 86R61 prop, trimmed out for level cruise flight, the PT indicates @ 105 mph. With a larger pitch climb prop you get @ 95 mph IAS. A N28 is a speed demon compared to a PT.

Yeah! You know that really surprises a lot of folks. But not her!

Finally got the time to do some painting. My buddy mixed up some blue and black for me and I painted my first airbrush job. I've been spoiled as my buddy has painted all my previous builds. I told him it's time I learn to at least paint the basic stuff. I need to paint the black on the cowl and the "U.S. ARMY" on the bottom. Got the cowl masked off as you can see in the pictures and need to mask off the lettering on the wing bottom. For my first paint job I'm pretty happy with the results.

Thanks Scale. Not as nice as yours but I'm pretty happy with it. There is something to say about the color combinations on this model. It just looks damn good. Glad I did the ribbing on the fuse as it really adds a lot. For a small model it really has a nice look to it with just a little paint added to the covering. Got more black and stencils for the lettering coming over tomorrow from my buddy. Should have it done by later tomorrow afternoon. Now if I could just find an old Williams pilot to finish off the "office".

Got the cowl and the "US ARMY" painted. Looked around for a pilot and as a joke I put one in the cockpit the size of Mickey Rooney! No, it's not glued in. Once the wind calms down around here it will be time for a maiden. All balanced and ready to go.

That is looking nice. I think Mickey might have even been taller than that. Looks like it will be a ball to fly.

Finally got some weather to maiden the girl yesterday. Really nice flying airplane. Love the colors and look in the air. Let a few buddies fly her around and all were impressed with it. Half throttle is more than enough with the .40 of course and landings are really nice once power is cut. We are going to be raising money for our club as we are acquiring a new field and might go with Geotex. I think I will auction it off for the club's benefit. I've already realized over half of my enjoyment with it as I love to build. Should probably keep it though as it is my first personal paint job.

Have put a lot more airtime on this little plane. This thing really flies super. Hard not to enjoy. Easy to transport, easy to fly, easy to land, easy to look at! Don't know why some don't like the benefit of these older kits when they come out so well and fly so nice. They don't know what they're missing by not building anymore. Can't wait to get started on more of my Jemco kits. Currently trying finish a Davey Industries P47. It again is the .50 size type and somewhat of a standoff, open bay wing design. I went further than standard kit installing retracts including tail wheel (in scale location) and full flaps. Covered in Solartex. Will get painted details to bring it closer to a P47. Got to get the tail feathers finished then covered in white Super Coverite as I am copying a specific aircraft that flew in the Pacific theater. Here are a few shots of it so far. Powered with a Saito .65 and electric retracts.

Finished up my P47 and got it's maiden in at our club's annual fun fly this sat. 55" span, weighed in at 7.1lbs. Needed two clicks of down trim and that was it. Programmed in some down with flaps deployed and it turned out just about right. Flies super with plenty of motor (flies at 1/2 throttle easily), does all maneuvers, even some knife edge, lands just as good. With the opening in the nose of the cowl and the exit at the rear the motor stays nice and cool. Only thing is with the cowl on it makes some sort of vacuum effect on the carb and the idle screw needed to go in 1 1/2 turns to not flame out as soon as the glow is removed.

Made up aluminum gear doors, machined some brackets to mount the doors to the struts and screwed the tops of the doors to threaded holes in the HK retract aluminum trunnions. Gear and doors work great. All markings are painted and the pilot resembles Mark Knoppler from Dire Straits! LOL For a old 80's kit and an old Saito, 25yrs, this plane is a gem.

Thanks Scale. Now that I know it flies well it is going to get some panel lines and weathering. My wife is our club secretary and was at our fun fly this past weekend as she runs registration, raffles, food, etc (I know, I'm very lucky to have a wife who likes to participate in my hobby) and while she said it was great to see the P47's first flight and that it flew well, it's too plain Jane for her liking. She likes my Kingfisher and even the little Jemco 19 more. Typical woman, she likes color. LOL. So some dressing up with give it some more "look".

While it's not a very scale outline it gave me plenty of practice on scale appearance upgrades like the gear doors, stenciling, and painting. This can only help when I get to the more scale like airframes I have to build yet. Have a few home projects to take care of before I can start building again and I believe it will be that devastator on floats next. I didn't realize that I had a nice set of foam EDO blanks that when I measured them are pretty much the correct length for the devastator.. At least the float building should go fast. Those damn corrugations on the other hand............

I got my old "Red Box" Top Flite P-51B back again and I am going to rebuild it into something much nicer. It too does not have a very good scale outline, but I am going to make it pretty nice. I just want to do it, not for contest work or anything else, just to have a nice plane to fly. Sometimes us builders just do something for our own fun, not for glory or throphies. In my case I put in a lot of detail that no one will ever see.

Default Jemco PT-19 plan

Yes I still have my kit I bought from Tower Hobbies Scratch and Dent Sale in the 80's. I have been going it to vacuum off all the parts and inventory what is there. I have instruction sheet and 3-view but unfortunately there is no plan sheet.
Do you still have yours that I can pay for a copy of. I haven't been able to find one anywhere. I waited way to long. No decal sheet either but I am not worried about that I can get a set from Cali Graphics or something close.

My father and one of his co workers at Northrop flew in one from Hawthorn Calf. to Hanford Ca and nearly crashed due to low oil pressure and had to make an emergency landing somewhere near Hanford to put 8 or more quarts of oil in that starving Ranger engine. When they returned home my fatherchad a few unkind words to tell the machanic. I am trying to build allvthe aircraft that he flew from his logbooks. Rose Parakeet, Fairchild KR-21, Interstate, Taylorcraft and more.
Any help would be appreciated. Love your build thread.

I will look as I keep all my plans. It's just a matter of finding them. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks I will appreciate it. I will pay the cost of copying. I can even send you a flash drive to scan it on.
