In the air it flys like a sport plane and does scale aerobatics with ease.
The landing a little like a warbird but it seems honest in the stall.
Mine weighs 25# and is G-62 powered. It is finished as the Wedell Williams #44 but it is the same airplane.

I was wondering if you ever completed this plane? I took a bunch of pic for somebody awhile back.
I only live a few miles away.

RE: Gilmore "Red Lion"
Michel,
I made some good progress this week end on the Lion.
I added a second tank for smoke, put a rudder servos tray, added tail surfaces with servo supports......
The only things needed for completion of the fuselage are the stringers and a couple of minor things like wire tubes, stab.
I think that by the end of this week, I'll be ready to start drawing the wings.
I'll have to work on the renders, which are not really beautiful IMO....
I'm sure the RCS 250 will do a wonderful job hauling the plane around!

RE: Gilmore "Red Lion"
I have the Wendell Hostetler, 1:4 Gilmore Red Lion and having a friend build the frame for me. Question is has anyone built this and if you can clear the air on how and where the landing gear mounts. It looks like it mounts in the spar area of the center wing section within the box.
The wood kit was from Percision Cut kits.

The original airplane exists and is on display at the Western Reserve Museum, Cleveland Ohio. They probably know it as the Roscoe Turner Wedell Williams. They may be able to get you cockpit pictures.
I saw the airplane about 10 years ago and was allowed to shoot some pics of the cockpit, but they are in storage and recall they weren't very good. The airplane is in it's last paint scheme of all gold, with the Pratt&Whitnet Hornet engine, but the cockpit I would imiagine is the same or close to it.
The replica airplanes at the Wedell Williams Museum may or may not have representative cockpit details of the original airplane, but I know they are lengthened, have thicker airfoils and longer wing spans than the original.
