RE: Topflite 1/5 P-51 Engines
I am building this model as well - I saw a full scaled example flying very well on a Zenoah 38 at the UK nationals last year. The engine was canted 10 degrees to the left inverted ( head on view) and no alterations to the cowl - other than a 2 square inch hole cut in the base ( at the bulkhead) for services and cooling. However based on the comments in the column I am also tempted to look at the Moki 2.1

RE: Topflite 1/5 P-51 Engines
I'm flying my TF P-51 with the Moki 2.10 and an 20 x 8 APC Wide at 7200 to 7600 rpm with excellent results. The bigger diameter looks better on a P-51. If your engine can get over 7000 rps you should be in good shape. Use the throttle slowely to gain speed on the ground before lifting off. You need to make sure it is flying before takeoff or it will do bad things. You're going to love flying it. Also keep the speed up on landings.

Hi!
Cooling is a problem when using gas engines in a fully cowled warbird like the P-51 or spitfire...that's why MVVS came up with a water cooled version of their 58cc engine.

Will the radiator fit in the belly scoop ??
Now that would be cool.

Hey guys,
I think that the radiator and the whole mod; would fit to a P-40.....At the P-51 ain't no space in the front for a radiator and the complete system to fit. It would definatelly look scale but it has to be roomy...
