WINGS 2nd Annual Scale Fly-In
This is our club's (WINGS Miniature Aircraft Society) 2nd Annual Scale Fly-In here in Lubbock, Texas. September 23rd & 24th. We thought we would get more out of town folks to come by for a visit but this has turned into just a club fun fly it seems.
Day One Report:
Only 7 pilots put down their $20.00 bucks and we flew two rounds today and the remaining two will be done tomorrow.
Weather report about wind was pretty darn close. Windy in the morning, but around 1 pm, wind died down to almost calm conditions. We did have three crashes with two fo the models being totally wiped out. A Declathon(sp?) and a H9 P-47. A electric Piper Club had a bad take-off, crashed, and it was repairable I'm told.
Also, I served as one of the flight judges for the first time in my model airplane career. That opened up my eyes for what is expected from the pilot. The other judge was our CD who judged for Top Gun this year. First photo shows off the trophies that we will be handing out on Sunday. Doug Harmon two models are next. He just rebuilt the Tri-decker, but didn't fly it for the scale event. The little P-51 is a rocket ship. Joh Shipley about to take-off with his Declathon which would crash later in the day.
