Default Saito 100

Hello,

i'm building up a new plane here and had bought a Dave Brown 90FS motor mount a while ago thinking that it would fit the Saito 100...but it doesn't. i've even seen photos of the 90FS working with that motor. have they changed the sizes of either of those two products? Do you know what size WOULD work?

thanks

it should fit. it's ok if you spread the rails a bit...iv'e used it on both the os 91 and saito 100.

so it's OK to spread them so the engine fits snug in between the rails? i've always thought you only wanted it touching on the rails??

anyway, thanks for your reply... i guess it's a normal way for that engine to fit!

I tried that combo for fit today, and it is tight. What I would recommend is to take a dremel drum sander, and remove material from inside the beams so there is no pressure against the engine mount beams. Forcing the beams apart puts side stresses on them which they are not really designed to take. Those arms will break if enough stress is put on them ..don't ask how I know this......

hey nony,
what's the next size up that 'would' more or less fit. it seems like it might be almost too much to shave off and then how much would be left for real strength???

my main problem is i do not have any hobby store around to test this out. i have to order everything when i need something. any additional thoughts would be great.

thanks

i think the saito 100 is the same case as the 91 but bored out more and a bigger piston. you could probably find the dimensions for it on horizon hobby's site.

Okay, I'll ask--how do you know that? I'm also using the D.B. 90FS mount with a Saito 100, and haven't had any problems......yet. I have at least 5 or 6 hours of run time on this combo. Did yours just finally fail, or did it take a lick on the nose to help it out?

Dimensions for all saitos should be in your owners manual.
