Best scale photo!

RE: Best scale photo!
I am going on the limb here and say this is not a model. I say that based on the reflection in the rear view mirror. Looks like another airplane or terminal in the reflection. And I'd have to say the skin/rivets/screws.
If it is not 1:1 then someone spending a lot of time detailing!

[X(]Wow....looks like the real deal to me! If it is a model, you've done an exceptional job on that Spit. I'm leaning towards real though.

MODERATOR...
Why are you censoring this thread and removing posts from contributors who are trying to engage in debate and discussion of scale photographs of scale model aircraft?
Why do you choose to not delete posts made by people who are intentionaly posting pictures that are off topic?

Man there is just no way to fool you guys
you spotted the "cockpit hatch open/closing mechanism."
YOU ARE CORRECT that is not an orginal latch mechanism
That particular mechanism was a field modification done in country, 1968 at Doh Low base
by my personal friend and long time Air Force buddy Ensen Willie Boom Bot
You guys are sharp--Thought I could sneek that by

Nice try... Thanks for trying though, it made for some interesting photograph scrutiny. Our little group of "keen eyes" doesn't miss "much"... dare I say "anything".

M51,
I don't understand. Hellcat is not the one who posted the image of the spit...Ultimate1 was the poster. Why did Hellcat respond as the poster of the pic? I still don't believe that it's a full-scale Spit with a hatch latch "in country" mod or whatever.
I think it's one of these [link=http://www.supermarineaircraft.com/index.htm]http://www.supermarineaircraft.com/index.htm[/link]
And I, for one, don't appreciate these inappropriate posts of full-scale imagery in an attempt to pull-the-wool. Maybe a new thread entitled "Real or Fake?" would be an appropriate outlet for these posters.

RE: Best scale photo!
Yeah thats the one (or similar repro' planes) for sure... it's a reproduction as stated. No scale modeler would make the panel/hatch mistakes I mentioned. And the panel fit/details just doesn't look like any of the the spits I've researched and drawn.
These repros are/can be considerably smaller than the original. Some I've seen, aren't that much larger than a 3rd scale RC model Spit' built in Blackpool- England not that many years ago.

RE: Best scale photo!
I've just finished (my 2nd night running) goin' thru this whole thread. Mustang51, my hat's off to you sir. A fantastic idea. 'And a LOT o' work keepin' it on track! As a modeler and a photographer, my hat's off to a boatload o' th' guys who've posted so much fine work, both photo-wise and certainly model-wise. I'm jus' gettin' back into th' hobby after 40 yrs. off (did I really say forty?!) and I'm VERY into scale A/C. So this whole thread has been candy t' me an' my buildin' ambitions. I sincerely thank you.

Oh, did I wake anyone.
Talk about the burst of photos only to snoooz again.
Must be the Super Bowl coming up.
This F86 showed up in Dayton Ohio for the Scalemasters event a few years ago. The proud owner is Shailesh Patel from out west. California I belive.

So.. now that this thread is so long.. is it time for somebody to collect the "Best Of" photos and put them in a seperate post.. for those of us who are just too lazy to go back through the 100 + pages?
Please? I would love to have a section with the good pics only for quick review and entertainment..
Pluuueezzee??

Ha !
I am not qualified... we need the talented photo guys to pick the top ones..,
I posted pics of my planes, but I NOT take the pictures.. others did.
I guess it was an unreasonable request... I am not sure how it could be done either as I am, and always have been, computer "stoopid" [:@][][&o]

Actually, a full-scale aviator/photographer-type who is not that versed in RC aircraft would be the best person to go through and pick those images which best replicate the ones he's stored in his minds' harddrive.

Here's a couple of shots of Frank Scott's Constellation that I've not posted before. I think that the first one looks fairly realistic ,as well as the second, even with the engines showing

I too have enjoyed all 100 pages. I revisit time to time. I felt I should make at least one contribution. Here is a pic of my Stearman on an early morning flight at our field. Kind of a hazzy day.
Thanks again, Jerry

RE: Best scale photo!
Thanks...
It is actually a 77" K&W. It has a 1.80 Saito buried in the dummy radial. The wings are held on by the full functional flying wires!
Here is a low pass a little closer up (not as scale photo).
