I just EYE it from front center section. Get the front bottom of the leading edge lined up parallel with the trailing edge, then just EYE left and right and see if the trailing edge is visible like on the center section,if not ,adjust with a little heat on the covering.Easy....puplover

thanks for the tips. I cant wait to fly this thing. I am now all finished except motor and electronics. i will be ordering them this comming week. I have been flying a hopped up stryker. I am looking foward to somthing a little more slow and capable of rolling take offs and landings.

ex water man (so am I ) This plane will be off the ground in 10 ft. It is fast for scale, maybe flaps would help? But really, it flys very smooth, and has the right motor i.e. Rimfire 28-30-950 and 3pack li-po. Get up high and trim her out .Have fun. Let me know it works out.---puplover

Here is my non-lozenge scheme. Top wing will be black as well, of course, with the white cross outlines and a white "N" on top. Maybe a little boring, but at last years Dawn Patrol event there were at least three red and white DVIIs so I just couldn't do another one of those.

Thats going to look great!!! Might be a little hard to see and keep orintation though. I will be ordering the stuff needed to finish mine this week. I cant wait!!! Did everyone use those little stock hinges that came with the kit? (electrifly dVII) I did on the alerons but on the elevator and rudder I used larger more beefy ones.

Is that a scale color and how long did it take you to get the covering off? I am ready to paint mine this week. I have found a solution to lorenze and you all will be impressed. The bird still have the read and white color as seen from the museum. DP

I guess it is a "real" color scheme. Colors are that of Lnt. Willi Nebgen's DVII from Jasta 7.

This is not the Great Planes DVII, so I'm afraid I can't tell you how long it took to take the covering off. Sorry, I should have noted that in my first post.

I am looking forward to seeing your results, Dai Phan!

You are right. For a minute I thought it was the GP one. I thought about doing the all black DVII (Joseph Jacob) too but I am concerned about the black getting wrinkled in the hot summer. DP

The stock hinges in my opinion are too small. I use larger CA hinges and I feel better with larger ones. DP

I finished painting the top wing, just the interplane struts left to paint. I think you can get a good idea of what it will look like when it is finished, though. How goes your project Dai Phan?

Got this one from Dan-San in CA. Documented scheme, of which there are a handful from the Raben Jasta mid to late 1918.

I was thinking it might be interesting to detail a DVII as Bruno Stachel's black mount in Jack Hunter's The Blue Max novel. I believe he had it painted completely black. I just dug up my copy and reviewed the chapter where Bruno dictates how he wanted his ship painted. I'm afraid only a bold RCer would attempt to recreate the phrase he also had painted on the top wing. Think F-bomb.[&:]

Hi all,

I have finished scratch building the engine and modify the machine gun bay. I am now ready to paint. I am going to do it in all white HG bird as I think that it will be different from my usual multi colors birds. DP

Coverite used to have a lozenge line of fabric covering, once in a while you find them on Ebay. I dont know why they dont restart that line though.

Fellas,

At Toledo last week the BUSA people had samples of a lozenge printed Solartex. The guy said it should be ready in time for Dayton in September. That's great news to me!

Wildman

AZ Models sells Lozenge printed on some close to Solartex, It costs a little but well worth it. I have it on several planes and working on putting it on my Fokker D IV.
http://arizonamodels.com/product_inf...products_id/91 A little prep work is needed but the results with out the weight are very good.
