RC Scale Albatross finished
Hi all, I've been posting a build log in the seaplanes section, but wanted to share with you my finished SA-16B Albatross.
It is my first first scale scratchbuild. (Though I've scratchbuilt a lot of other stuff before) It has a 93" wingspan. [link=http://www.stef.com/Albatrosspics/update 8_23_07/AlbatrossGallery]here[/link] is a link to more pics and angles. -stef

The WWI buff in my was suckered in by the thread title -- only to be surprised AND THEN STUNNED by your outstanding amphibian! Could you provide a link to the build thread? I'm sure there'd be lots to learn there.

Thanks guys!
I have not flown her yet, I've been living in Italy this last year, building her in my tiny apartment, and just arrived back in America last night. US Airways treated my large crate very well First flights will be the weekend of September 15th/16th and I will post flight (and or crash!) video after that.
I didn't model the cockpit or any of the interior, perhaps on the next scale project, as there is no going back to anything but scale!!!!!!

Off on a family vacation, will report back mid September. Again thanks for the nice comments, it is fuel for the next build!

Stef, you're probably on vacation at this time, but when you read this, I'd like to know how you came up with the chassis idea. I don't think I've ever seen a model aircraft built around a landing gear chassis. At least for this subject it seems absolutely brilliant!

Abufletcher, I came up with the chassis idea to distribute the wing and gear forces in a lightweight manner, and to separate the gear mechanism from the wing.
Okay....
Ladies and Gentlemen, I invite you to view the maiden flight of my Scratchbuilt P20 SA-16B Albatross [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tP1ELjgFf3o]here.[/link]

Wow! in the first shot I thought I was looking at the Mongram plastic kit just as a refrence shot
Absolutely stunning work! And congrats on a plane that floats high and dry!
Tom NOTE the envy shade
I'm so sorry, I didn't see the link to the video on the first post.
Any speculation as to what happened?

Thanks for all the support guys. She'll stay boxed up for a bit while I lick my wounds and stick to planes under two foot wingspan and under 50 bucks! Perhaps she'll fly next summer! Or at the very least I'll keep her as a nice display model.
Abufletcher I forgot to mention that I do pay the bills with Industrial design.
