i will have to post photo's of the 150% royal b-17 i picked up. A guy out in Metro Detroit recently lost his father who was in his mid to late 80's and sold it to me. they had also built and completed a 2nd one that fly's with 4 o.s. 40 FSR's. but neither have retracts or flaps, that is a definite change for me, scale features are a must. I believe the wing is 10 foot!

How many baron kits were made or still out there, seems like it is the rarest. I have been doing research on mine for a year and not finding any info. I wonder who has one and how many are even built and flyable?

all royal kits typically tend to be rare, the corsair, p-51, and zero tend to be most common. I've got a pile of about 20 royal kits and 10 built models by royal.

However the Royal p-40 is the most rare, followed by the Hell Cat, and P-61 Black Widow as these are the last 3 that wee produced before they closed up. To Date, no one has shown positively identification that a "Royal P-40" actually exists.

Here is my Baron. My father built this for a gentleman when I was maybe 3. I am now 36. It was built with 2 webra 40's. Last year my buddy showed me this he found it on local craigslist for sale. A quick call and yes it was his grandpas and he passed away. It was never flown and hung in his office for years. The covering yellowed but I bought it fast. Never flown. So we decided to restore it.

Converted it to electric. Before we restored it we test flew it and flew great. Power 32's on 4s 4500 packs for a total weight of 8.5 pounds.

Pictured today almost restored. I added a semi scale cockpit. Landing gear. Antennas. Hand carved turbo air scoops that are functional also and a lot
More detail. Covered in coverite and painted in automotive base Porsche Rivera blue. Scored a new canopy which will be painted this week. Final assemble and decals.

Pretty cool my dad built this 34 yrs ago and helped restore it today.

looks great! I might be mistaken but I do not see any flaps???
It is nice to see people taking the time and effort to restore this rare and beautiful aircraft.
Over the weekend I picked up a "Royal DC-3/C47" fully built covered in fabric and painted. has flaps but no retracts.
However on the plans It shows how to build the supplied wire landing gear into a functioning retract set.

No flaps or retracts. Kept it light. It just glides right in down. Yes it would have been more scale. But I wanted to keep it a easy low Maintaince flier.
