Man, I would truely love to get a canopy myself. plans would be nice too.

Anyone here know who just bought the Royal/Marutaka Hein kit that was on the RCU Marketplace?

If I had Plans I could make a Canopy and a Glass cowl. A Canopy is not that difficult to make . Sand the plug and put in a clear
PETG 2 liter bottle and stick it in the oven.......Trim to remove. But with no plans , no canopy. I have Jack Albrechts frpm the now defunct RCM plans.

I have the plans for the .19-.25 size Royal Ki-61 scanned to disk. Not sure if that's the one you guys are looking for but you're welcome to a copy of the plans.

Hi Chad!!

Blown up to 68-72'', is the KI-61Jr going to have enough formers/structure to be sound (in the wings especially) ? Also, what flies well in one size doesn't always do well as significantly larger size without some modification of other things as well.

What did you use for plans on your scratch built Tony? As I recall it's in the 6' range isn't it? Done a canopy yet.......or paint?

I have not really looked the plans over frets but, at a glance, I think it would scale up to ~70" span without too much difficulty. The big drawback, for me anyway, is that the airplane is far from accurate in outline. Really more of a sport model dressed up to resemble a Ki-61. I drew my own plans for my 71" span scratch built Tony. I actually passed it along to a friend to finish and he has not managed to get it done yet either! My drawings are still a long ways from being finished in the sense that I could market them but they are complete enough to build an airplane from. You're welcome to a copy if you would like. I don't have a canopy but it is a relatively simple plug to carve. You carve the plug and I would be happy to vac form the canopy for you. I do still have the plug for the vac formed lower cowl as well. The airplane flies really well and it is a shame that it languishes incomplete in my friend's garage.

I have traced all the parts for the bear cat and will upload tomorrow,
on another note I just calculated my current investment into my royal b-17 to be $885!!!!!! And it isn't even built!!!!!
os 20 fs $75
os 20 fs $130
os 20 fs $130
os 20 fs $110
4 rebuild kits $100
kit plus shipping $220 was missing wing ribs
foam wing and horizontal stab from Eureka aircraft plus shipping $120!!!!
WOW this doesn't include 3 packs of zpoxy finishing resin, extra wood sheeting, 4 hs 81 micro servo's and 4 or 5 packs of glass cloth!

there are some interesting ads for crash insurance, I think I'll look into it, about to build very soon!

I have about $1100.00 in mine and that does not include buying the original junk pile with engines that I practicaly gave away! Mine has flaps and bullet proof Robart air retracts, and the late great OS .15CV's. They were $115. each. If your going to spend a lot of time on a model why not put some quality components in it? This model was already about 20 years old. I plan on keeping it operational another 20 or so....

Personally I don't want to know how much I have in an airplane, too scary! That and ir does give me plausible deniability when the wife asks.

I used the nose glass from the Hobbyking electric B-17. It is acually more accuarate for a B-17F, which mine is supposed to be.
