Nice plane. My wife gave me a green light for you. I may try to go electric with it.

I am seriously considering getting this plane. Does anyone know how a plane like this flys? Can it do simple aerobatics, stall characteristics, landing and take-offs, etc. I have a feeling I will end up getting it now matter what. It really caught my eye and would be something very different at the field.

I can answer that. I have a Kyosho Agwagon that is very similar in design and flight characteristics to the Pawnee. Both are agricultural planes which means they are ultra stable and easy to fly. My Agwagon is a 68'' ws model and if balanced correctly, the 80'' Pawnee will fly equally well even in a light wind. My plane is so stable I regularly fly on windy days that ground the other guys. I'm a big agplane fan so for me it's awsome to finally see a model like this hit the market. Also, as a bonus, they have a beautiful color scheme on it....it's a must have! Put your order in!

Oh, by the way...an agplane can do any aerobatic just short of 3D...but were designed to fly mostly straight and level under a load. Hope this helps.

Except when making that stall turn at the end of the field.

Did anyone read the fine print and notice it is also available in Midnight Blue and White . Like Outacontrol 41 I have a TMRC Pawnee in the box and am going to think long and hard before bulding it now that Hanger 9 has offered this up. This is too good to be true!!! Oh , I'll still probably build the TMRC version but it has moved down the build order, way down !

JEFF!!! Good to hear your voice again! And you're lookin' good...shed a couple pounds? What's kept you busy if you haven't been working on that TMRC Pawnee? Yea...that ARF promises to be nice...but everyone's gonna own one, even me! BUT, the magic of owning and flying something that you built and made to look scale is not comparable. Even if it is from TMRC [&:] ...where's my cowl!!??[sm=punching.gif] And I'll always be able to say ''my toy's bigger than yours!"
BTW...if you're really serious about building that TMRC Pawnee, you'd better start soon. It takes a looong time! Averaging 6 -8 hours a week. I'm into my nineth month. Skipped a month, July, because it was so hot.
Back to the H9 Pawnee. Can anyone make an arguement that this Pawnee was not a direct response to the new RC Guys Agwagon coming out soon? I mean, really...[:-] what a coinsidence. Years of nothin and all of a sudden two long sought after ARF kits hit the market about the same time. Now is the time to ask this question: is the Grumman Agcat next? and from who??

I do not think the Hangar 9 Pawni (electric and glow) are a result of the RC Guys thread on the Ag Wagon. Because I believe it must take more than a few months to design, prototype, test, gear up for manufacturing, parts support, manuals, graphics, etc.

I think it is all a wonderful coincidence.

And I love it!!

Jeff248: I think they meant that the only color scheme available will be turquoise, midnight blue and white.

Still, that's a nice set of colors.

I thought exactly the same thing! It will be great to "electrify" the AG. I would use one motor bigger than they suggest, the equivalent to a .60 two stroke. It will be handy for all those crazy stall turns:-) Is this hobby great or what?

You ask what I have been doing.. It's called a Hollis Calvert 100" Air Tractor. I started it last summer and like you say, 10-20 hours a week later I'm just to the point of starting to cover it . Your right in saying there's a great degree of satisfaction in bringing a pile of balsa to a flying model. I love to build but this Hanger 9 Pawnee is too good to pass up on. Probobly strip the covering and convert it to a more traditional white with red trim color scheme . Outacontrol41, always great to see your pictures of your TMRC Pawnee , What did you cover it with and looks like some painting going on, give us the details. Better get over to hanger 9 and get the Pawnee ordered. PS - I think I mis-interpreted the colour scheme thing, must have been having an almost senior moment (As my wife calls them) Keep up the pictures and postings !!!

Jeff,

The Pawnee is covered tightly and wrinkle free with MonoKote (tm) and painted with Topflite (tm) jet white. The reason for it being painted is even though the covering is tough and holds tight, it's too transparent to pass off as a competitive scale model. That transparency might be okay for an ARF funfly or standoff scale, but I'm a few notches above that with this plane. The red is actually a cheaper paint enamel I bought at the hardware store, regal red, to match the 1959 color scheme Mr. Dick Graham modeled his plane after.
The plane is very near total completion....as soon as I get everything back together I'll treat you guys to an in depth photo shoot on the cropduster thread, so keep your eye on that. I've then got a few more lite projects to do then it's on to the Grumman Agcat build.[8D] Should be a fun build.

I had a chance to see the Horizon 80" Pawnee today at the AMA Convention show. Wow, what a looker! It is gorgeous in person. [sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]

Anyone know how the bolt on tail assembly holds up over time? I've not had a plane where the tail bolts on like the wing.
