Seeking Polikarpov I-16 plans
Is there anyone out in RC Scale world who can assist me in tracking down a plan set for the Polikarpov I-16. I am looking to scratch build one of around 72". I can scale down or up if necessry. I saw one of these flying at Warbirds over Wanaka this year in New Zealand and decided that it would be my next project.
Thankyou
Darren

No ... the one I saw was the full sized one in the photograph. I don't think he'll have plans for a model.

Can't vouch for the accuracy, but Cleveland Models has it in several scales. See
http://www.clevelandairline.com/ASP/PRODUCT.asp
Find Polikarpov in the drop down box and search on it - pops right up. The various scales are just blow ups of the original 3/4 inch to the foot plans. You'd probably need to do a lot of structural adaptation.
I love the I-16 too - must have been fantastic to see one in flight.

Here are plans for an I-16 with an 80" wingspan.

RE: Seeking Polikarpov I-16 plans
I received my Cleveland Models plan today. I am most disappointed. The plan is just a blown up plan designed for rubber power. The original is obviously on one sheet and to allow for the upscaling the plan has been split in two and reproduced on two sheets, requiring the matching the two sheets to view the plan view of the model. Line width is up to 2mm thick. Will not purchase another plan here.

It's absolutely ridiculous that we are expected to buy model plans sight-unseen. Many aren't worth the paper they are printed on and I have several sets of worthless plans. Honestly, I sometimes think it would be better to just build over an enlarged 3-view.
Personally, I think of "Cleveland" as being somewhat ancient stuff. Ancient kits and ancient plans (of mostly teeny models).

There's a small 31" electric version here, but maybe you could scale it up. http://www.tdmsoftware.com/tdmmodels/

I did a quick search and RCU has this thread for 1/3 scale I-16 from 2003.
I also believe the AMA magazine or Model Airplane News Giant scale editor is doing a 80 inch or so.
good luck.

Have a look through [link=http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6485&PN=1&TPN=1]this[/link] thread as well. The same build as the previous one, but in more depth.
