1/6 Scale Pilot Figure (pre WWI female)
Hello - Any ideas where I can find a 1/6 scale, scale looking, pre WWI female pilot figure? I've checked out a few of the standard manufacturers but didn't have any sucess. I don't need a full figure pilot, but the best option I've found so far is a 12" tall Amelia Earhart doll.
thanks,
Steve

"Women have made a significant contribution to aviation since the Wright Brothers’ first 12-second flight in 1903. Blanche Scott was the first women pilot, in 1910, when the plane that she was allowed to taxi mysteriously became airborne. In 1911, Harriet Quimby became the first licensed woman pilot. And later in 1912, Harriet became the first women to fly across the English Channel."

She actually looks pretty hot! Maybe you should try a Barbie!

Yikes! Both Harriet and her passenger were killed when the Bleriot she was flying suddenly bucked forward and they were both thrown out of the airplane! Remember, kids, buckle up!

I was with a friend at a scale contest and he needed a pilot so he would not get downgraded in the flight scores. He picked up a Ken doll(I needed a picture to show at work but could not get it) took the arms and legs off and it got pretty light so Barbi might be the way to go if you will chop her up and you might get lucky with an off the shelf costume like the horsy stuff.

not a bad idea, thanks, TFF. I also contacted AH Design and they can make me a female version of the WWI pilot (http://www.thepilotpeople.co.uk/products.htm). Still waiting on the cost of this option...

Thanks, Abu. I'm building a Procotor Mini-Antic Bipe and am doing a bunch of mods/scratch building to make it look like a Curtiss Jenny. Here's a link to my build thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8270605/tm.htm

Steve, thanks for posting the link to your "bash." I checked in on your thread a while ago but you've made good progress since then. So is "Harriet" going to be sitting in the front or back seat? If you're married and have any sense of diplomacy, you'd better make it the front seat!

Good point. I am married, I have a two year old daughter, and another daughter expected in May! I guess I better put a Harriet in each seat since I'm already out numbered. Luckly my daughter loves airplanes and enjoys going to the field with me.

Hi Insalacosm,
Pancho Barnes was another famous female aviator who might fill the bill. Many people only know her from the "Right Stuff" book. I believe she set some records in early aviation.
