Looks great Summer! Your stringers look nice and straight. Did you have to tweak any of the notches? Are those removable side cheeks on the fuse to get to the cabanes in the event of a mishap? Are you planning to hide any switches or hardware there?
Keep it coming.

hey Mike,
the stringers fit right on the money in the notches......a tad of trimming on the the lower rear former was it.
the side hatches are removeable at this time but i may make them permanent. i'm thinking that as tough as they are, any mishaps that could cause any damage to them would also mean some other serious damage to the wings would have occured which would probably leave the model in a non repairable state.

it's gettin there......i'm at the point of fabbing the lower hatch/wing fairing.
it's one point of the construction that i feel could use more photographic description in the manual as it is odd until it's completed, so i hope my shots will help anyone who is building and gets to this point.

the lower hatch is held on by being screwed to the root ribs of the lower wings which are pinned to the lower main struts. very secure.
the tie rods in the photos will become a permanent part of the lower hatch.

in the previous photos you can see the tie rods are screwed in place. in these photos and from here on out you will see that i turned them over so only the flat otherwise back side of the brass plates are facing outwards........this eliminates a rather unsightly bulge and is a bit cleaner. you only need to cut clearance holes in the L. Hatch skin to allow the ties rods to pass thru.......these holes will be covered by the 1/64" fairings skin.

finished the hatch.....the only thing needed to be done to the 1/64" ply fairing skin was to bevel the back edge where it meets the hatch skin.......pretty basic stuff.

here is what i came up with to get close to the photo above.
i drilled the axle ends so that the final wheel bushing that has the inside washer soldered on will be slipped on the main axle, then the wheel cap will slip over the end and all will be held in place by a 1/72 nut and bolt. i made the wheel cap from brass tubing, small brass washer bored out to fit the wheel bushing and then soldered a piece of sheet brass over the end of the cap.
