RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight
Neil,
Tried shooting any HD footage with the 7D yet? Supposed to be a spectacular HD rig, once you add a few key after-market components.

I've only experimented with it once (the East Kirkby Lancaster starting up - 4 Merlins starting - who could resist!). At the time I only had a Sandisk III C/f card in the camera. It still produced a good, although slightly jerky, video. I would recommend a fast card like the Transcend x600, which I'm using now. This card will keep up with the 7D even at max RAW & multiple picture taking & the its very reasonably priced, too.

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight
Hi Guys,
Some great pics
Right, I did promise some model details the other day............
The B-17 - wingspan 18ft; 4x Zenoah Zg38; the wings are standard balsa, ply construction & covered with glass cloth & I think, cellulose paint. The fuselage has a bit of history to it (along with all the other large UK B-17's) it was made from the same moulds that were used for the models in the film Memphis Belle. The B-17, Days Pay is owned by Phil Robertshaw & Virgin's Delight by Dave Johnson.
The Victor - 18ft wingspan, 150lbs & 2x Wren 160 jet turbines. Standard wood construction with glass cloth covering. The model was originally built by Gordon Nichols & is now owned & flown by Andy Johnson
The Wellington Mk X - 13ft W/s; 42 lbs; 2x Zenoah 26cc petrol engines. Model is standard wood construction from a Tony Nijhuis design - kits available from SLEC UK. The type of covering used is called Coverall, with Humbrol enamel. The Wellington was built & flown by Peter Wilson
The Sopwith Pup - a scratch built model by Jim Lambert in 1995 & restored last year. 108" w/s, 42 lbs & a geared Zg38
The Magister - I don't have many details for this model (I lost my model note book at the LMA show at Rougham). It's 50% scale & owned by john Townsend & that's it![]
Hope this bit of info is of interest.

Neil

Great job on the pictures, and what a piece of art in the air! Dang I love this tread! To some art is paintings or a sculpture etc. but to me an aircraft is by far the greatest art! Airplanes was my first love and though I have been married and divorced and dating, I have never forgotten my first love, Keep the pictures coming! And Thank you all for taking the time to post the pictures!

Hey Teus,
I like what you've done in photoshop with the 504....excellent "faux vintage" effect. The 504 has been one of my favorites since I was a kid. It's neat to see a scale model of one and in 1/4 scale...wow! that's big...In the words of the "Rocketeer"...."I like it".
Cheers from (bankrupt) California, U.S.A.[&o]
Ken.

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight
These aren't quite good enough for the "scale photos" thread, but I like them anyway. These are the maiden flight photos of my 1/4th BUSA Sopwith Pup. Not very impressive by the standards of this place, but I like it anyway.
For whatever reason, I think this photo makes it look deceptively like a full scale plane in a flyby. Granted, it would be a crappy photo of a full scale plane, but I think with a little sepia tone and some photo grit it could look pretty cool.

Wow
Like the 504, great looking airframe. I like the 1/4 scale pup as well. It looks good. Standards are good enough to post, if you are happy with it, thats all that matters.
Beautiful aircraft being posted on here, and enjoy looking at everyone. Great thread.

This is really a beautiful big model at 1/4 scale. This is the second 504K from this builder (Jacques from Holland) his first he build at 1/3 scale, can you imagine how big that model was? I only saw the photo's but I can tell you that was big!

Wow 1/3! I would have to keep the car out of the garage just to park the plane! This has been a tread that i have went back through all the pages many times just to see all the pictures over and over! This is my favorit thread ever and its because of the great folks posting the pictures! I would love to have all the pictures hanging on my walls but space would be a problem! But that said has any of you ever thought about selling a few 8 by 10's or other sizes of some of your photo's?
