Favourite Scale Models in Flight

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight
Here is a pic of my 1/3 Cub from a flying session last week. No where near the quality of model or pictures that Neil is posting but it is my favorite flight pic of my Cub. Throwing in one of my 1/4 DRI while I am at it.

The big boys were requested by the generals wife to cover up before they left the visiting field - so I guess thats what happened -

Hey Neil,
Awesome pics as always !
I do however, want to say that the Hunter's weathering and 'patina' is superb ! ... perhaps the best I've seen.
... in a way you're lucky.... you get to shoot so many great scale models all year-round .... and with very dramatic skies !
Here in beautifull sunny southern California, it's 'high-noon' all day long ( lousy for photos ) and we don't have nearly the scale-models-percapita that you have over there.
Great stuff Neil,
...keep 'em coming
Ken.

Ken's absolutely right in regards to the per-capita statement. We just had a 'Scale Fly In' at our club field this past Saturday, but we just don't have the prolific 'contest quality' scale builders where I live. 'Top Gun' is next week, but I can't make it. Too far, too expensive.

Yeah, there's no doubt that in terms of "Scale Models per Capita" that the UK has total dominance over the US. [] And, yeah too, on the weather. As a photographer from National Geographic once told me: "Bad weather makes for good photos." Here's what California looks like when we're not stealing water from Colorado.

Here's some in flight shots of my DR1 that Darrel Whittaker took at our "Gilman Springs Dawn Patrol" a week ago. And if you look close, in the pic of the tripe on the runway, there is SOME green out there! No clouds, however.....

Lou IV was a beautiful Mustang (maybe too clean for my taste) swinging a 4-blade prop, but had no Pilot figure, which to me, ruins the illusion. The other Mustang only had a 2-blade prop, but at least it had a Pilot.

Admit it, Neil, you have a drop cloth background with pretty clouds that hang these models in front of. Here's what the sky looks here in Japan for large parts of the year.

Top Flight Cessna 182 ARF. Yes, just an ARF, but what it lacks in scale detail is easily made up for in great flyability! Gotta start somewhere right? This isn't my model, but I have enjoyed being able to get some quality stick time in on it.

Great Pictures!
That last shot is a fantastic reminder of just how hard water really is.
I was at a float fly a week ago and one guy lost his cub, smashing in to the lake. Broke up just as bad as if he'd hit solid ground.

I have to agree with CMGTech, the Top Flite Cessna does look really good in flight.
Here is a photo I took of my friends plane.
I also like how this giant scale A-10 looks in flight.
