Ah nice subject. I built one of these many yrs ago , flew quite well. Only just thrown it out after not using it for a long time, then I made another one at 35% scale that was even better.
The original design was from an Italian designer and his showed a hook on the front to stop the model nosing into the ground on take off's and landings.

more scale than the drawing you used:
dimensions are similar couse contest limitations
ciao

RE: 1/4 Rutan AMSOil RACER
Hello, I helped build the Rutan Race plane and flew race # 3 for Aimsoil. The airplane had non functional wing struts that were curved to allow for wing flex to calm down the competitions howls of foul. If the airplane had been flown better it would have dominated the class. Flew into the ground at over 200 mph and the pilot survived to wreck more airplanes.

Hi Robert Waldo
happy to read you helped to build the plane I love from the first picture I've seen a lot of years ago... middle 80's
from the first time I've tried to find documentation but it was very dificult couse internet was immature...
only I knew the plane was broken in a wreckage in 1983 and the poor picture of the plane hanging in the Grand Sierra Reno Hotel Hall...
In theese years I've contacted Danny Mortensen who sent me a few pictures and some Amsoil stickers.
After the plane was transferred to EAA started to appear a lot of picture so I could finish the drawing you can see here
only I need a few thinks to make my job almost complete...
I can't recognize the logo in the rudder, do you know what is it? Danny doesn't remember
and also he doesn't remember what's on and the colors of the labels I can't read in the panel picture
every help is welcome, informations, old pictures etc... otherwise thanks anyway:-)
