Default Ukiah, CA "Propbusters" DSM Memorial Qualifier

34th running of the Dan Sullivan Memorial event in Ukiah, Ca. June 26-27.[/b]

The Ukiah Propbusters always do a great job running this Masters qualifiying event which has become a veritable “Who's Who” of the best scale pilots in No. Cal...

This year we had the "Crème de la Creme" of WWI models from the area and the level of building and flying was outstanding.
The competition was fun and close called down to the wire with club member Gus Stutsman picking up the 1st place honors with his immaculately built and flown Proctor Eindecker.
Jeff Lovitt placed 2nd with his “Fox Trot” Nieuport.
John Cole (all the way from Ariz.) placing 3rd with his Fokker Eindecker.

Joe Topper (Mr. Proctor himself) was also in the heat of battle with his Fokker DVII and Eindecker.

The weather was fabulous on both days with light winds just keeping the heat off but not disrupting the 20 pilots in any way, we were able to get 4 rounds of flying in. WWI planes seem to be the rage again in the Expert class...for me it was Biplane Heaven.

The Ukiah boyz put on a great night time display of flying with their various LED decked out slow-fly models... awesome stuff !!

Thanks again to the "Ukiah Propbusters" for a very memorable, well run, fun event with great memories for the coming year.

Wish I could have been there! Looks like lots of fun with a great group of scale modelers. [sm=thumbs_up.gif] [sm=thumbs_up.gif] I do wish, though, that American WWI modelers would branch out a bit.

Eric Thanks for the post and photos. This event is always a good time and has become a real dogfight for the Expert trophies. The Nieuport 11 "Foxtrot" happens to be mine.

Looking for info on your upcoming event. Can you post a flyer or let us know where we can find it?

FWIW- this particular site is very well suited to WWI types. It is one of the nicest backgrounds to fly against because it all looks so real for these types.

Until the Next Dan Sullivan,

Jeff
