    Spuetz,
Thanks for the tip. What kind of rpm are you getting with the two blade?

    Hi Tom,
Mine is an old ST 770 and I get about 5200 with the 24/10 and 22/12 likewise. The newer ones should run faster... I have a Solo Prop on my Aero (photos and video couple posts back) I run 22 inch blades on that one and have it set to 12 inch pitch.

    Thanks Spuetz,
I would love to run a Solo prop, as their curved tip blades look similar to the blade on the full-scale 190. Problem is, i can't justify spending $300 on a solo-prop, when i can get Four Biela Carbon fiber 3-bladed props for the cost of 1 solo prop.

Thomas.. I NEED my spinner and fan lol. I have a friend who MAY have on. If he does I'll ask if he's willing to part with it. I doubt he will but I'll ask.

And the Solo props are the Price of Glory!

LoL bob, yea i need one to. And Sist isn't producing anything until their 1/4 scale 190 is brought to market (this coming spring supposedly). Sooo... i've got to find a fan so i can modify my cowling for the fan to fit before i start priming. Shoot, if i could just find one to borrow for a few weeks that's be great. but oh well. If your friend is willing, i dont mind paying a few extra $$$ for one.

    Hi Thomas,

who do you need to justify it with?
Remember that when you nose the plane over, all you have to do is buy new blades...
But they are dear, those props, no doubt about that...

Haha...I hear ya, it just doesn't make financial sense to drop that much money on a single prop, when 4 can be had for the same price. And I see solo is no longer sellng "single" replacement blades, which make it even more difficult to justify.

My engine arrived today Now I think I'll put it in the DVI since I should have that built before the Came. Still looking at the fuel thing. There are some places to order Meth. on the net. There are also some places in Maryland that aren't too far away.. We shall see.

    Bob,
Vp racing fuels sells methanol for $35 for 5 gallons. I believe 55 gallons was around $170. Shipping for 5 gallons was between 50 and 10p due to the hazmat feel. I found 10 gallons of the stuff for free from a local dragracer who has a methanol funny car, so maybe try looking at a local drag strip to see if the have any.

And trust a radial owner , you dont want to just let all seven of those cylinders spew at random inside your cowl. My engine isnt cowled, the cyls stick out in the air, its like five (my 5 cyl) little oil jets spraying down the fuse sides aided by the whirlwind created by the 22" thrashing wood thing on the front. My Kekeo collector was $215.00 plus shipping for a 5 cyl.

Can the 7 cylinder engine still be purchased from UMS Technologies in India despite the bankruptcy of the German Seidel company? (Maybe not the link to UMS earlier in the thread earlier seems not to work.)

Seidel's bankruptcy might be more of a business decision than a necessity. Might be a way to close down.

RE: Seidel 7-70 radial: Help me decide!

Do any of you guys know what size the E-clip / Circlip is that holds the Valve Rocker arm pivot shafts in place? One of mine popped off sometime (either before i got it, or during handling). So I'm thinking this may be one of those items that may be nice to have a couple extra's of. I've tried 1/8" and it fits, but it gets spread apart as if its to small, and then is easily removed and 3/16" is to large. so i'm thinking its around 4mm? but not sure.

    Thanks

RE: Seidel 7-70 radial: Help me decide!

My 770 did come with the "circlip" which is really just a c-shaped piece of wire. It seems almost certain to get lost, that and it's a pain to get off and on. So I also immediate thought of using the external circlips (with the holes for the tool). First I tried the M8 and M10 clips that were available in the local hardware shop. The M10 is too big and M8 seems too small (has to be distorted to fit). On a recent trip to Osaka, I was able to find some M9 clips but haven't tried them yet.
