Top Flite Giant FW-190?

Iwas perusing Omni models and came accross this

www3.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/woi0001p

Retracts for a giant scale FW-190 from Top Flite are on order?

Maybe they will bring the Giant arf corsair and Fw at the same time?

I saw the same thing on Tower Hobbies "coming soon" page. It is gone now also....Robart retracts for the Top Flite Giant Fw-190. They had both an air operated version and the electric version of the gear.

Please post photos when the retracts arrive. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see them in the flesh.

RE: Top Flite Giant FW-190?

One year ago I suggested to Top Flite that they should add a Giant FW-190 to their catalog. The answer I got was positive:

Hi. Thank you for your email about the FW 190 and making a Giant Scale version of it. I can say that this is an excellent idea and one of the projects that we are seriously considering as a future release. Thanks again for the idea.
So hopefully the "seriously considering" has gone a bit further.

I have sent a new email to them to see if they can tell us some more. Will post reply as soon as I have it.

Regards
Henning

kit or arf

I will be surprised if TF ever introduces another warbird kit. Pleasantly surprised, but surprised none the less.

Would surprise (and sadden) me if they didn't supply as kit. If they deliver an ARF so they obviously just have a simple task of packing the parts to also deliver as kit.

Coming from a guy who has spent the last 4 years happily building a 60 size TF Thunderbolt that's nearing completion. Have modified kit to scale location of undercarriage and wheel wells, hidden all linkages to elevator and fin, added functioning UC inner doors, panel lines, ++. Mods really needed if one is to call this near scale, and things not done if one buys an ARF. ARF's are great, but sometimes you just need a real build.

So TF, yes please to both!

Love to see them produce this kit/arf. Hopefully with scale lines, unlike the rest of their models. Great flying models, but please put a little more effort into the profile appearance! :)

At the Toledo Show, I stopped by the Great Planes booth and inquired about the 190. I forget the gentleman's name, but he was a friendly fellow.

He told me that no, new, builders kits are in the works, explaining that the market will not sustain the effort.

When I asked about the big 190, he smiled, but would not confirm it. He stated that something was in the works, but would not divulge what it was. He told me about the problems they had, in developing the new Corsair ARF. I took this as an implication that they were having troubles with the new, un-named, ARF.

I don't know his intentions, but I walked away with the feeling that there would be a giant scale 190 ARF in the future.

ARF manufacturing seems to be pretty tough in general these days. The costs are certainly going to rise.

Fellow flyers

Have received confirmation from Top Flite that a kit is not in their plans, but that they are still working on a ARF 190 project. No confirmation was given as to a positive if or when it will be ready. Too bad about the no kit decision.

I can hardly wait to see it. Top Flite make good aircraft from what I've seen at the field. If I don't like it, ( I think I will) I hope it's the same scale as the ESM version, then I can use nose cone! :D

Odds are that it's a Dora since the smaller version was. I just hope that it's accurately 1/5th scale. Then the kit will be limitless other then the design. I'll start saving..lol. Some proof of it's development would be nice so I don't get my hopes too high..
