The pic is in my gallery .. 3 rd one over number 605.

That's my "scale" best shot.

F18

Man those F 18 shots earlier are great, but being a hornet fanatic, you have to admitt those stock gear are just terrrible looking as apposed to the real thing.
Gear up she looks real, but gear down???
Those gear are positively wimpy, like something found on a airforce plane, have you ever seen an 18's gear up close in person? They are positively beefy, like tree trunks.
That front strut really looks way to small, and the angles on the rear are way off also. The rears need to extend back, down and out,not just back and down.
I know this is not the fault of the builders,I think for what they get for these gear, they really need to do a redesign, especially how exact everything is going to these days.
As
these stock gear are,I dont see how any of these such equipped planes can do well in either top gun or the scale masters.
Just stating my opinion, and venting about a subject that irks me.
I wish I had either the skills do develope a scale set myself,or the funds to have it done.
BTW, you guys have some very nice aircraft out there,I hope to add a few myself in the coming days.

After removing 2 oz. of nose weight and three tries she was off. Better yet I flew her twice and took my Hurri home in one piece (mostly)!

Yes, the struts are my handiwork. They are simply cosmetic fixtures applied over Yellow's struts. I use the word "simply" with artistic license :)
You think the nose gear is intense...the mains are off the hook.
Bring your checkbook!!!!

Whalecrew,
Very, very nice indeed. I'd love to see all these gorgeous Y/A twins in the air together...with scale gear, of course. What a photo op. My fav jet model for sure.
I'll live directly under departure, 1 mi. from Miramar, so see about 30 to 60 Hornets a day. They definitely put some lengthy pauses into many phone conversations. All my clients are used to it now :) I love it, except for full afterburners at 7 AM. Fortunately, that is rare. Heck, full Military Power rocks the house!

More from the Great War.

The two Nieuports actually collided in mid air two weeks prior to this flying session. Damage was pretty minor to both models. Lucky day <g>

Here is my 1/4 scale Piper Tomahawk. First model built of this airplane. Got the three views from Piper, and had the model in the air before any production planes were manufactured. At the time, 1978, only the prototype was flying. Exactly 20 years later, my son made his solo flight in the airplane on the right.
