Default Show us your unusual builds...

I've seen some funny custom builds online over the years, like a 2-liter soda bottle made into a fast electric RC boat. Wondering if anyone wants to show off their crazy ideas. Mine is a duck decoy and parts from a toy store hover craft. I was about to trash both when I came up with this idea. Something I could run around a typical swimming pool and not worry if it got close to kids or ran full-on into the side...

Hi Dauntlessfan,

That's a great idea. I think the coolest projects are the one-off ones that are different from the rest.

I'm flirting with a folk-art project. I have a children's book called the Summerfolk. The book is about a kid and his adventure with his boat called a "Floatilla" . I used to love this book as a kid so I want to build it for my son when he gets a little older. It will be different from the Dauntless build because it will be a simple project that should only take a short time to build.

As long as you don't get too involved with a "scale" model of the "Flotilla".

Hi Bob,

It will likely be scale and look like the one in the book but I don't have to take the extra time needed to make it "pretty". It will be a fun rustic project though.

Back when arfs were really taking a leap in sales.. I thought so many of them were less aerodynamic than the box... i always wanted to take a ugly arf trainer, and use the box as the fuselage...beef it up so that it would work, but make it look so dang funny..

The Spar Platform, and the Shearleg Crane was the unusual build last year.

The spar platform can float on it's own, or be anchored, the crane is operational, and was
built for tugboat competition. Two or more tugs must maneuver and hold the crane in postion while
the crane's load is lowered into place on the spar patform. The challenge is based on an event first
held in Belgium in 2009.

Sheetboat killer crosses the bow of the new Oracle 12m catamaran.
No one went through the windshield, but somone does go through the sail/wing.

Kmot,

Doesn't look like "Project X" was built to play nice...

Building a 20,000 leagues under the sea "Nautilus" to take down to NYC, are you?
