This was built in the USA that's why the wheel is on the left. If you want it opposite you have to get one built in England. Hope this helps. LOL
Thanks,
Fred

Here are a few quick samples from the internet. The below pics are American made Chris-Crafts.

RE: Dumas 36
I had to did deep but I did find a few boats with the wheel on the left side. I didn't see any Chris Craft though. Looks like on small boats 99.9% of the time the wheel is going to be on the right side.
I did find this boat and WOW is it nice!

Hi Rich,
Thanks for the update and the great pictures. I was really being facetious with my steering wheel statement all done in fun. I was just following the plans which showed the steering wheel on the left side. I figured US auto makers put the steering wheel on the left and British on the right so it would hold true for boats also. LOL
Thanks,
Fred

I thought the left or right steering wheel placement in small craft like a single propeller high horsepower runabout was determined by which direction the propeller rotated. When the prop is turning fast the boat will tend to tilt to the side due to prop torque reaction. This can be balanced out by putting the driver on the high side of the boat (the assumption being the driver is alone most of the time). And that would usually be the side where the wheel is.

Hi Fred,
I totally agree with your logic on the subject. When I grew up on the water I wondered for a long time why the steering wheels were on the ‘wrong side’ of the boat.
Hi John,
You’re right, according to the web: Boat propellers turn clockwise, and hulls used to be designed in such a way that when there was torque on the prop, the right side of the boat would rise up. So the wheel was put on the right, so the weight of these "healthy sized" fishermen would counteract that.
So this could explain the mysteryon whythe wheelis on the 'wrong side' of the boat.

Here's something you might run into as you run your boat. I had this problem, well not actually a problem. As you are in aturn, the way the waterwill come
off the frontquarter of the boat, it tends to get a lot of water coming into the cockpit area. I saw on a site years ago a guy had this problem as I had. On thepic, between the marks, you can see I added a little piece along the chine line. A 1/4" triangle spruce piece I bevelled each end, and shaped a little to fit smoothly, and painted. If you look closely down the chine line you can see how it is not a straight as before, you can seeit buldge down a little there. The water comes off nice as it was built, but can work its way up into the boat. With this little mod, the water peels off andcurls back into the water.Just something to think about. I also tend to go a little faster that scale speed sometimes, so depending your set up, you might not have this problem. This boat does look good going through the water.I've had lots of comments over the years.

Blizard05- Not to add to your difficulty in deciding on what your next model build will be, but take a look at the newest Legend Model Boat Kit, the 1922 Hacker Gold Cup Racer “MISS SEVERN”
