RE: 1/8TH SCALE HYDRO BUILD QUESTIONS
Hello, I received my CMB engine and everything. While reading the little bit of information that came with it, I am a little confused. It states that the motor should be taken apart to check everything. But, I have no idea what I am looking for. And this may sound stupid, but where does the needle valve go.?? Also, is there a good source that shows how to do this? I am a little scared to take it apart. The last time I redid a car engine, there were a few parts left over that magically appeared. Any guidance would be greatful.

RE: 1/8TH SCALE HYDRO BUILD QUESTIONS
You're looking for a couple of things:
1) Metal shavings and other manufacturing debris inside the engine and yes, it does happen
2) Ridges and burrs form the machining process inside the case and in the sleeve's transfer ports where they can cause damage
As for the needle valve, it is screwed into the carb at the same end as the fuel inlet. It's used to regulate the fuel flow into the engine to prevent damage from running too rich or too lean

Thanks HJ. I thought that is where the needle valve goes. But there is nothing for it to screw into. I took off the fuel inlet (right side of engine, color red) but after the two hex bolts are removed, it just slides out. Maybe I am dumb............ Do you happen to have a pic?

No carb pictures on that one. I swapped out the CMB carb for an OS 9B carb instead. Many feel it's easier to tune than the CMB carb so I installed one on my 67 before putting the engine into a boat. It doesn't hurt that it's an easy bolt on replacement either

RE: 1/8TH SCALE HYDRO BUILD QUESTIONS
Thanks HJ. I will contact Jerry at Seaducer Boats to see how to attach the needle valve. I am a little over my budget for the boat, so a new carb might have to wait. Thanks again for your help. I will post a pic within the next few days of how everything is laid out on the other thread. I will do this before I put the skins on.
