Default Graupner TINA build

I got started on building he Graupner Tina row boat. It is a fairly easy kit with instructions in English and German. Die cut pieces are of very high quality. I first installed the stem, inwales, and spacer mouldings followed by the bulkheads. You have to keep the boat at the correct width by using a spreader bar across the hull since the hull is made out of thin ABS.

Nice! It looks like from the plans it actually has a mechanical rowing system?

The kit does have a fairly complex mechanical rowing system . The oar movement is drivn by a gear drive for the back and forth motion and the oars are lifted out of the water with servos. I will have more pictures on the mechanical drive later.

Hi,
I have built the Tina boat back in 1984 when I was in Europe.
I tried to get parts from Graupner, but they said they did not support this model any more.
I was surprised to see that you are building a Tina row boat at this time.
Where did you buy it, and do you know where I can get parts?
Specifically, I need to replace the drive mechanism; it gets jammed now, because some of the teeth in the large wheel are
stripped.

I acquired the Tina kit from a person who had purchased it but never assembled it. All of the parts were in the kit which made it an easy build. I saw on one of the model boat forums a posting from a person who had a spare gear mechanism but the posting was a year of so old. You might try searching this forum and the others associated with model boats. I noticed that the gear mechanism is the critical issue when getting the oars to work correctly. It takes lots of adjustments and fooling around to get it working correctly. I discovered the coupling suppled in the kit is very noisy but I couldn't come up with a suitable replacement that had the same overall length and 2.3mm shaft dia.
