Astro Flight Marine Motor 25 Replacement
I need a replacement for an Astro Flight Marine Ferrite 25 motor. Their website is showing that they are sold out and they are not answering their contact us emails. The motors run on 12 Volts and consume 10 Amps at 8,500 RPM. The Kv is 825 rpm/V. I do need a reverse function. Is there any thing out there like this? A brushless motor would be fine. I plan on using two in a Sterling 48 inch Chris Craft Corvette. Dan.

RE: Astro Flight Marine Motor 25 Replacement
Hi Dan,
The Astroflight 25 Ferrite marine motor was discontinued a while back along with all of Astroflights brushed motors. With this said, if you can get your old Astro 25 working it will eventually become a collectible. Astroflight does sell an Astroflight 25 marine motor but it is brushless and it is even more powerful than the 25 Ferrite motor.
Also, Bob from Astroflight sold the business so I'm not sure how good customer service is in the new "Astroflight" company.

Dan, I have two of those motors in two of my boats. Great motors!
Not sure what would be a good alternative, but if you spend some time going over this table of motors you might find something suitable:

ORIGINAL: All Day Dan
All their brushed marine motors are still available. Dan.

The Astroflight 25 Super-Ferrite Marine motors are no longer in production. They were discontinued years ago. Those were their popular marine motor back in the day. The Model number on the Super-Ferrite marine motor was 425. They carry the Astroflight 25 Brushless motor which is model number 426. That is a completely different motor. I own two pairs of the original Astroflight 25 (Model 425).

Rich,
Their website has a 426 Cobalt 25 and a 441 Cobalt 40 listed. They are brushed motors. Although it says "Sold Out", I called up and they will make them when ordered. The older 425 and 440 Ferrite versions are no longer available. Dan

Hi Chellie,
That is a really nice display..
Do you happen to have the second motor and does the motor in the picture work?
Regards,
-Rich.

RE: Astro Flight Marine Motor 25 Replacement
Hi Chellie,
You have a nice little display there.
The motor is worth about $60-80 on average. The fact that you have the original box, papers and even two non working Nicad’s collectors may be interested in it and ‘may’ be willing to pay a little bit more for it. I say this because the old Nicads may or may not attract collectors. I never heard of anyone collecting old Nicads but as a box set it may seem attractive to some..
I bought a pair of used Astroflight 25’s a couple of years ago for $120 which was a fair price for them which brought them to $60 each.
The motors are difficult to find and someone is going to want it. The fact that you have a NOS (New old Stock) motor will likely get the attention of some collectors. I would use the fact that the motor is (NOS) as selling points to drive up the bidding.
If I was going to sell a similar motor I would set an ebay reserve for $60 and let the market determine the final price.
If you had the second motor and sell the complete set there would likely be a bidding Frenzy because collectors will jump on the opportunity to get the entire original box set.
On another forum I am on we do “ebay” alerts. This is when something unique that is RC boat related is found on e-bay and if the finder does not want to bid on it they post the link as a courtesy to fellow boaters and the community will be tipped off about out the item. This brings attention to the item and brings more interested parties to the table.
If you do post it on e-bay, let me know and I will add it as an e-bay alert to get it some attention.

RE: Astro Flight Marine Motor 25 Replacement
Back in the late 90's I used this a few times until I went to a brushless motor. But in its day, this was one of THE motors to have. I still have the orginal box I keep it in. Only used it a few time, along with this esc.
