1/96 USS Port Royal (CG-73) Build Log
CG73 Port Royal Cruiser is the last Ticonderoga-class cruiser in us navy,I ordered this arkmodel kit months ago now it arrives. This is a new full kit in 1:96,arkmodel post semi kit many year ago,now it is all ready. This is first time I build a FRP kit, before this I built many plastic kits
As usual, the first step is shaft and rudder system installation positioning.Due to the relatively large size,so use the <chmetcnv unitname="mm" sourcevalue="5" hasspace="False" negative="False" numbertype="1" tcsc="0"></chmetcnv>5MM shaft,The shaft tube use own bearings and stainless steel .pipes, the rudder with the Ark Original rudder.
ARKMODEL original driver is 550 with gearbox,it's a mature power but the noise is too large...To drag propeller (diameter is <chmetcnv unitname="mm" sourcevalue="54" hasspace="False" negative="False" numbertype="1" tcsc="0"></chmetcnv>54MM),I think that the 550 motor is not enough,so I purchased 775 motor.
The position of the servo set under VLS system below, easy to maintenance in the future. use the glass fiber cloth + epoxy and the hull fixed, then use the wood to strengthen.
Aluminum motor stand can't installed because of the location of reasons, had to use copper motor stand, and with AB glue fixed plus fiber cloth.
Intend into the water over the weekend, ready for anything work, this superstructure seemingly simple upper but spend a lot of time
