Default Micro 'SS Nomadic' (1:325 scale) Scratch Built R/C Model.

My scratch built 1:325 scale radio controlled model of the SS Nomadic.

Here are the model dimensions:
Length ~ 8.12"
Beam ~ 1.36"
Approximate total displacement weight ~ 40 grams.
Primary Material = Polystyrene

A bit of history:
The SS Nomadic was a tender for the White Star Line, built in Harland and Wolff shipyards from 1910 to 1911 along side the RMS Olympic and Titanic. The tender was built to service these two famous (or infamous) ships at Cherbourg, where the port was too shallow to allow an Olympic class liner to dock. Nomadic was used to ferry the 1st and 2nd class passengers to the ship; the 3rd class passengers boarded a different tender named SS Traffic. The SS Nomadic is the only surviving White Star vessel today, and is currently on display in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

I was commissioned to build this model by a customer who owns a 1:325 scale R/C Titanic model and wanted to add this same scale SS Nomadic to his fleet to sail along side it.
I started this build on June 19, 2016 and completed it on September 3, 2016. The "sea trials" were on September 5, 2016.

Here is the link to my full online build log, where you can find more details about this model:

My next two projects are a little bigger, a 1:87 scale radio controlled model of the RMS Titanic and SS Nomadic. The model lengths are as follows...

Titanic = 121.64"
Nomadic = 30.31"

The Titanic model will have working smoke, horn audio, and lights, as well as a speaker that softly plays Edwardian era music.
The Nomadic will also have working lights.

I won't be posting about these two models here at RC Universe until they are completely finished. In the mean time you can follow my progress at RC Groups.com:

The official "maiden voyage" was back on September 11; it took me a couple days to finally get this video uploaded.

She performed beautifully!

Default Micro 'SS Nomadic' in Action!

My customer just sent me this picture of the micro SS Nomadic serving as "tender" for his 1:325 scale RMS Titanic. It's in service just like the real ship back in 1912!
