Motors, Props, ESCs for Scale Electric Runabouts
Firstly, be easy on me, I am computer literate, but not Forum literate. I'm also not too familiar with R/C.
Having said that though, Here's my dilemma: I'm building scale models of classic mahogany runabouts and launches. My first boat was a scratch built 30" version of the Chris*Craft 18' Cobra, using the Dumas model instructions. My boat's weight is probably about 5-7 lbs, I have a Trinity Monster RC2141 motor, a HiTec EZX-R esc, with the Dumas brass 2 bladed prop. and a 7.2v NiMH battery pack. The boat just won't get out of the water to plane. Several people have suggested that I use different props. But at about $10.00 - $20.00 a try, I feel there's got to be a more scientific way to determine the optimum (a) motor, (b) ESC, (c) propeller for a given hull shape and boat weight.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom?
Thanks
