I'm working on one now. Only have the bottom of the hull planked. The wood Dumas supplies is mediocre at best. Also read, then reread the instructions. Then read them again. They will eventually make sense.

I'm adding 2 smoke generators, lights and a recording of a calliope playing various tunes via a mini MP3 player. I do not have pics, but I do have several of other peoples Creole Queen.

I don't have one but others in our club do have them. They are a fair weather boat, they like very calm water and no wind. They have a very low freeboard and any moderate wave will wash across the deck. Otherwise they are a very nice boat.

Expensive !!![X(] A lot depends on what you have already. This boat is over 4 ft long !

Kit $295 Motor/gearbox $90 ESC $50 - $150 Radio $100 - $200 Batteries (gell/NIMH) $40

Building supplies (paint, resin, glues, linkages etc) $100 or more

Satisfaction that you built it yourself; $priceless$

Dumas boats are one of the worst kit boats in the world. Forgetting about the outrageous price for a pile of sticks that require a TON of sanding and shaping.

This boat requires a lot of curved planking and fitting of strips.
Do a couple of other boats first , then you can start and finish the Creole Queen.

You WILL buy spare wood of different sizes to complete it because the wood is so bad in some kits.

The Creole Queen is one of the better Dumas kits. I know that's not saying much, but this kit is better than starting a scratch build. Granted, not all of the wood is top notch, but it is not a pile of sticks either. Most wood kits do require a ton of sanding and shaping. This kit is no exception.
There is no planking involved, but a little curved sheeting at the bow must be installed. This takes a little time to get it right, but it's not hard. The rest of the hull is sheeted, which is easy to install since it's a flat bottom boat.
The instruction 'manual' is a bit of a joke. I've built a few static tall ships that had instructions in Italian that were written better.
Like Cyclops2 said, you should do a couple of other kits first before trying this one.

I have some photos of the real boat if you want to see them.
Also this siter has a detailed plan of the paddlewheel if you're interested.
http://modelplans.steamboats.org/paddlewheelers.html

The plans are described as such:
The package includes eight 4 x 6 color photos of the Creole Queen as she appeared in 1989-90 and one sheet of plans for the new paddlewheel. The plans are to the same scale as the model, so the new wheel can be built directly from them. The photos include two close-up shots of the new wheel and one of the deck details on the head of the boat. The other five photos show the boat underway from all angles

Patrick,

Why do you want to sell it? I just traded it to you.
