The motors supplied with the Lindberg kit I think are under powered for the Dumas kit. The difference is weight from the Dumas hull to the PLastic hull is the main reason. You can find some pretty inexpensive motors that will run the Dumas boat much better.

Hello,
I agree with TugGuy. The motors you are thinking of would be a dissapointment. I have built two of these boats and have powered them both with Astro Flight 25's. I went under the advisement from Frank at Franks Mosquito Boat Hobbies for the first one and was not dissapointed. The motors provided plenty of power and a real neat twin sound to boot. As for the second PT boat, it worked so well for the first one I stuck to them. Trust me, they are all the motor you will need. A twin motor setup is sufficient, too. Three motors, although scale, would be overkill and a hassle to set up.

Lets see 198 v 56...I think I have a question. What is the difference in performance and endurance...I'm going to lean to the cheaper solution..my budget is not huge. Can I use 2 of the 600s and still have satisfactory performance?

PT 109 48" DUMAS FIBER GLASS HULL can anyone tell me where i can get a copy of the build instruction booklet i have a full set of plans its for the Dumas 48" fiberglass hull kit # 2358. i would also like to know about power systems that are available? i have r/c planes so a lipo powered system using 2200mAh 20c 3 cell lipos i have 18 0f these! so that would be great but i 'm not sure of what motors and speed controls I should use,should they be water cooled? and the rest of the running gear as you can see I'm kinda lost with out the basic instructions to go by.

As for how I powered my Dumas PT boat I used two Speed700 motors with MCD330 speed controllers.
The speed controllers are water cooled as well as the motors.
Not sure where you can find Speed700 motors but two of these really push this boat around pretty fast.
3 motors doesn’t push it that much faster and two give it a little longer running time.
I still have the third shaft in for scale appearances when displaying it and i just take the center prop off when running it.
I power these with a gel cell battery. The real PT boats sat really low in the water as the real one had 3 Packard 12 cylinder Engines
Also the gel cell last a good 15 - 20 minutes at a cruise speed.
Most of my stuff came from Franks Mosquito Boat Hobbies (Use to be Howard Enterprises)
The two outside rudders are scale while the center is a trimmed down version of what Dumas provided. The scale rudders don't have enough surface to be effective at slow speeds.
