Sergio,

Contact Harbor Models out in California. He sells an R/C Dory rowboat, complete with old salt to row it. I've seen it on his website and somewhere in a magazine. He will be able to hook you up with it.

Sergio I remember a rowboat like that about 20 years ago. It had a guy onboard with his hands on the oars. When it was operated it looked like he was actually rowing the boat. But I haven't seen any of those kits since. Let us know if you do find one will you?

Hey Tug, Well I finally got around to calling Harbour Models, I spoke with Dave and he told me that he does not carry that model any more. He went on and explained to me why it was taken out and it was simply because the rowing mechanism itself was very complicated and some times hard to run. Oh well I guess it is really sad that such a nice model no longer exist. I will continue my search and if I ever come across any thing I will make sure to post here and let you know about it. Thanks for all you're help

I've seen more than one row boat pictured in various model exhibits. No idea if they were kits, or not, but sort of doubt it. If you wouldn't mind scratch building an R/C row boat there is at least one "toy" one available commercially. Buying one, tearing it apart to see how it's 'done', would at least give you some idea of how to go about building one. (Saw a 'toy' one advertised in some catalogue, couldn't stand it so got one. Found out real quick that I'm not much of a scratch builder, so didn't copy it. I'm sure it's possible though.) Good luck!

Here's a link to a Tamiya "toy" rowboat that isn't R/C'd (but might be set up for very simple operations). Only about 8" long. But it does have a rowing mechanism that you might be able to hide inside an "oilskin-clad" small Action Figure.

I know it's probably not the rowboat you're looking for, but it might be a "fun mod" for someone...!

I have the old assembled kit from Graupner 22 years ago and mine runs fine.
In my basement, I have an extra Graupner gear mechanism and oars as replacement and never used it. I can also photocopy instructions for the rowboat if you are interested. Send me your email I can send pictures.

You might consider building it from scratch if you want a bit of challenge. Video and ideas are here:
http://www.kaymac.ca/html/rowboat.html
The fine tuning takes a bit of time but it is one of the more rewarding models I have built.

Default RE: Row Boat ?

You can make a homemade rower with 2 servos controlled by a mixer transmitter. the stroke length is contholled by the various D1..D2..D3 ratios. Use a straight armed servo if space is small. You can adjust the raising & lowering of the oar during the stroke by tilting the servo slightly.

This is a very enjoyable project............Size of the boat MATTERS.
If the boat gets too small. Make up a pile of STUFF over the servos. Boxes, baskets, clothing, fishing gear, whatever.

The mixer transmitter control will allow the servos to run the boat straight at any speed and ALSO TURN any amount, at any speed.

Use servos that you have taken apart AND CAREFULLY removed the MOLDED MECHANICAL STOP ON THE OUTPUT GEAR !!!!!!!!
This step MUST BE DONE FIRST !!!!!!!!!!Before installing or connecting anything.
A RC CAR ball & socket clevis makes the servo run smoothly when tilted.
You will have to turn the servo potentiometer....The pot... To a stopped position after REINSTALLING the output gear.

PM me if you have problems.

Rich
