DS I'd set them back as close as possible to the strut to minimize vibration, maybe put a washer and collar between.
Rich - thanks again for the pulley. Hung it on the davit tonight, shines like a jewel. I totally dig it!

Captains;
I just received an email that the drive shafts I ordered were shipped today. I'm a little disappointed since the last email received said they would try to get them out Friday but if not them "Monday for sure". I suppose they can suffer from personnel problems like most other companies.[] Meanwhile I've been working on the motor mounts.

Hi caps...
Between yesterday & today I found a good crew of people that will ride aboard the Dauntless. There will be 3 men in suites along with a few elegant ladies aboard. I'm still bidding on the captain & engineer but won't reveal who they are are until I have them. All of the people will be in 1:18 scale because it is currently too difficult to find a decent crew in 1:16. I think this will be a good mix of people that will play the part of the modern 1940's-50's wealthy. I'm sure I will add more people later on but this is a start. These little figures add up fast! The Dauntless will be set up as a diorama so each room inside & out will feature people going about their business on the boat. Each room will have a story to tell.
Pics will come once they arrive.

Deep,
I read, on another forum, "the closer the prop to the rudder the better." He then went further and stated "to try to get the prop no closer than 25% of the prop diameter". You can check it out here and maybe PM the writer with any further questions and let us know the answer. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...rudder+distanc

Deep,
Another point I just read, the closer the prop to the rudder the more responsive the boat is to rudder commands since the rudder /boat only responds to moving water. Hmm, something else to think about.
Captains,
My drive shafts have arrived, time to go to work.

I encountered the same thing when I changed props. I left it as is with no problems and it runs fine. Once you cut the shaft there is no going back.

DS I love the decking, great work! For my pushrods I just went to the hobby store and bought some universal metal ones made for planes. Then just cut to the right size.

Well I'll be leaving on my cruise to Canada so I won't be here for a while. In the meantime here is a video from yesterday of my latest build and addition to the fleet, Red Baron.
Enjoy

Hi captains,
I have an entire crew of people coming in over the next few days which will make up the party aboard the Dauntless. In that, I also have the captain of the Dauntless too.
The captain of the Dauntless has an impressive resume. He was once the Admiral of the G.I. Joe Aircraft Carrier USSFlagg. We couldn't expect anyone less to captain the mighty Dauntless..
Meet Captain Keel Haul.. I think he will be a fine captain for the Dauntless.. He likes to be called "Tommy".
While serving aboard the Dauntless his outfit will be changed to all white along withgoldmedals.
