mine is the 700 3307 i cant even find that motor number at graupner so ill have to start over and buy 2 that match i think mine might be for an airplane o well back to the serch[img][/img]

Well, a place in Italy has the 3308 listed:
    http://www.hydrorcmania.it/BrushMtrNew.htm

I might be wrong but, it appears to me that the Graupner 700 Brushed motors are really Mabuchi 755's! Take a close look at the Web Pictures, especially the End Bell Covers with those large vents!

    Here is the Graupner 700:

Looking for some serious power from a Brushed Motor then, consider this one from Mabuchi Motors:

As feared, the 3307 was substituted by the 3308. I finally found the Graupner Link that verifies this at:

    Carlos,

Good information. Especially about the change in order number for the Graupner 700 BB. Need to look under both names when searching eBay.

    Thanks

If a picture is worth a thousand words then the 3308 is a 700 Turbo but NOT a 700 BB Turbo.  So it is not the same motor.  This is by observation of the pictures on the web site showing the two motors.  Is the substitution a downgrade?

    Deep,

Found this pic of the real Dauntless to compare to your Bridge shelter roof line, fairly close I think. It will look better, and closer, after you get a coat of paint on her.

Bob I think you're right if the pics are correct. It's a less expensive version with bushings not ball bearings. Not sure if here in the scale model boat world (as opposed to the 'fast electic' racing boat world) that would make much difference though?

You might find this site useful:
    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/edward....s/graupner.htm

Yes, even though it is a little out of focus, this motor seems like yours right on the money!
    http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=294629

Seems that your pictures are correct, there was a For Sale Ad here that seems to show the motor with the missing Front Bell Ring like yours:

    and finally this one!

    Deep,

Keep it simple man and find another 3307 just like the one you have. By the time you are ready to actually put the motors in you should find another one by then.

Quick! Call them in the morning!

You may want to consider two of them in case it does not match with the motor you have already.

RE: the unofficial home of the dumas dauntless

    Hi captains,

I got some work done on Dauntless. The entire crew on the boat arrived over the past week, I took the captain and painted a white outfit on him with some black and gold highlights. He really plays the part
& I can't wait for pics. I also painted Hercules...Wow did he come a long way. Now he looks like a movie star!! He is wearing a black suit with a white shirt and he is also sporting a gold watch, bracelet and necklace. His hair is also no longer hippy yellow, but is now long black hair. This along with his big buff build, he looks really cool!!

On the business end, I have been waiting for a stock of water jackets to come in but they are still not available. So last night I went ahead and watercooled the brush tabs because from what i've learned, they generate the most heat. I did a pretty good job on them if I do say so myself...Anyway, they are hooked up and ready to use. I took the boat out for a run today to see if the water makes it through but this is still an issue. I do want to say though that the metal tubing on the brush tabs seem to work like a heat sink because the motors ran cooler than usual. This week it is off to the hobby shop for thin metal tubes because i'm going to crimp and heatshrink them so that I can get to the leads on the water pumps.

I ran the boat this morning and she did great. As mentioned, she ran cooler than usual and I removed 16 oz from her stern. This changed her pitch slightly. The weight will eventually return but rather than lead it will be pumps and switch panels.

Today my wife has the camera so no pics were taken but they will soon follow. I am actually waiting for my batts to charge up so that I can go on a second run with the captain, both crew members and Herc.

    -Rich.

RE: the unofficial home of the dumas dauntless

    Hi captains,

So the other day I was at bed bath & beyond when I happen to stumble across a very interesting item. It is called a Winsome Luggage Rack. It is very nice looking and it has a walnut finish to it. Then I started thinking of the possibilities & bought it.

This thing was able to hold my Brooklyn Tug and the Dauntless nicely!! (not at the same time) This is great to either display your boat or for me I can work on the hull while it is nicely cradled in the slings. What's more is that it is lightweight and easily folds away. This thing is nice!!

I would use it as a general boat display but it's not such a good idea with a two year old runnin' around.. Perhaps someday I will get to use it as a general display. This could also be useful when bringing your boat to the pond.

check it out & perhaps it may be something that you will find useful for your big boats.

RE: the unofficial home of the dumas dauntless

    Looking good deepsky!!

Tonight I am going to try to get the waterpumps to work.

The way that the unit is made it looks like there was a specific plug from the car that plugs into the washer pump. Being that I don't have them I have tofabricate my own. The inside of the pump has two male prongs one for pos & the other for neg. So here is the gameplan: I bought a 1/8" wide by 12" long copper tube. I am going to cut off two 2" inch sections for each prong. Then I 'm going to crimp them and get them to slide on individually so that they stick in place. Afterwards the wire for each gets soldered to the other end of the tube. Once the wire is soldered the rest of the outside of the tube gets shrink wrapped so it cannot short out. Finally, I run tests, and install them once the pump works. I hope this does the trick and finally gets the water flowing throughout the system. If this pair works then i'm going to order more to complete the system. There will be an on/off switch installed and servo controlled so that I don't have to use it for the entire run.

As of now I have four large scoops underwater that is most definitely robbing performance. If this works out then I may remove the long scoops if it proves to self prime. This may even boost the speeds of the boat because there is less drag. So lets see how this works out.

    -Rich.

    Hi caps..

Here are some pictures of Herc, the captain & some of the folks on Dauntless.

So the official crew on this boat is made up of GI Joes... We have the captain, engineer, a seperate deckhand and two CIA agents. Then we have the owners party all of which are not GI Joe...

Also is a pic of one of the water pumps.
