A thought.....Scale oil rig for Darbys and Hunters to support
Anybody ever seen a scale rig? Any pictures? That seems like a project that somebody could get lost in for the better part of a decade. But, just imagine the possibilites! Make it functional! Drill head, Chopper Pad. Some of the new Electric minichoppers would be close. the support columns could be oil drums. (losing control) [X(]

Gotta admit, there are lots of possibilities there! What I wanna see is how you're gonna transport the thing - lol...

of course the tug will have to set the rig, both being remote controlled and actual rc helis. Than an rc sub comes along and blows it up.

Revell of Germany recently reissued their Oil Rig model. It is nowhere near the scale of a Darby or any other RC tug, but it looks really good.

Someone in town here had one years ago that they used to float on the pond.
But I haven't seen it in just that long,... years.
We wanted to build one that would smoke and burn so that we could run out with our fire boats and spray water on it. I have all the instructions for the Cormorant, but we decided that there are much easier oil rigs to build. Some of the concrete or steel catamaran base style rigs, or the big four pylon on concrete cross members, like the Thunder Horse, would be easy build below the rig platform.
I know this, because one of my ultimate goals is to build not only something like the Thunder Horse, but also the ship on which to sail her.

Talk about a contest!!
Oweners build their tow boats in the same scale and have to receive a crane lowered rig while holding position.
Locating pins would be standardized.
Then raise and navagate a standardized course. Finally have to sink on the new site, again on location pins or something requiring thruster controls.
A minimum and maximum wind is needed for realism.
15 thumbs up!!!!
Can my Amsterdam tryout?

There is a guy near me that builds model railroad buildings. He built a floating oil rig platform in G-scale for a guy last year. It was impressive to say the least with all that piping.

that rig pictured above would require some crazy stabilizers to keep upright. Can you actually build an rc dry dock ship that could haul that rig, without computer control. I'd love to see something like that in action
