More than likely, Loctite will do the job. If you have room for a jam nut that would be even better,

Kmot, are you talking about putting the jam nut on the foward side of the prop, then put lock tight between it and the prop also.

If you have brass props from Dumas, there should be a "slot" in both props. That "slot" is for what Dumas calls a "drive dog". The prop slots fit into the "drive dog". Thread the drive dog and the prop on at the same time, using the prop to "thread on" the dog...

Dumas also sells a nylon-centred lock nut which you put on AFTER you've put on the drive dog/prop. Once that locking nut is in, it doesn't mater which wya the prop turns, it'll never come off --until you unbolt the lock nut....!

If you look on Dumas' Web Page, you'll find these parts listed. I've used this set-up on 2 Shelly Fosses, my Dumas F/G PT-109 and Thompson Trawler, a British Watson Lifeboat, and a twin-screw Minesweeper -- and have never has a prop come off, or even come loose....

Thanks everyone for your advise, the two 2" 4 blade brass props I have from Dumas are probably odd in that they don't have slots and the shafts don't have holes, but after getting your advise and finding a boat club and attending for the first time, I was able to see what some were telling me, thanks everyone.
