The Jet pump parts are gorgeous. [8D][8D][8D]
Did you cast those yourself or build them up?

Umi I think you have found your inspiration..

Philip that's just amazing

What are you planning on powering that with? some brushless motors would probably do nicely. I dont really know what to say, it's like your actually building the real boat. Maybe you should just get some turbines for it.

Very nice work! Keep up the pics. I always wanted to build a PHM or Tucumcari... Probably much easier these days with improved battery packs... Good Luck!

As far as I am concerned, it's still not easy to build one of these... [&:]
Phillip's construction is gorgeous, but proper water flow and impeller thrust are
very difficult to achieve. [:@]

Most "submerged" foil boats steer with the single foil in the "tricycle" formation.
On the Jetfoil, PHM, Tucumcari(PG2) or the Sparviero, the single front foil was the
foil borne rudder. On the Plainview, the steering was the single foil strut at the stern.

I wish he'd tell us more, I'm really wondering what kind of power hes going to use, I have a theory a lot of problems stem from not enough power to suck water from that little inlet. I agree the construction is gorgeous.

Umi, I agree. I probably used to word easier to hastily. The only model-type hydrofoils I've seen successfully modelled were using props in the water similar to the full scale counterpart, or replaced the waterjets with props. I remember seeing a demo at a model show in Germany 2 years ago, where a guy had 2 hydrofoils, both water prop driven, with tons of NiCds onboard. Assuming you can get a decent current draw out of LiPos or something similar, these days one could save a bunch of weight now.

I've seen you Sparviero pics you posted a while back too. Another impressive project!

I have had plans for the PHM since 1999-2000
And have struggled with jet pumps ever since.
Four years ago Takahashi Yoichi published his JSDF Missle Patrol Hydrofoil, and I have been chasing him ever since.

One thing I notice with that boat as opposed with this build up is the one in the last link that worked, has an exaggerated intake area, one thing he might want to consider, being he's using twin jets and his looks completely scale. Maybe it cannot be that way.

Hi Phillip,

Very nice work indeed!

What are you going to use for motor/jet pump?

Keep us posted please.

Regards, Jan.
